Hey everyone!

For those of you who have seen it, yes, the thread title is a reference to "The Lego Movie", in which "Everything is Awesome" is the protagonist's life anthem. (Loved the animation and seeing all the "Lego People" come to life... storyline and general plot were... not nearly as good as I had hoped.)

I know there are lots of other similar threads out there, but I wanted to add just one more with a (hopefully) upbeat, happy vibe. Tell us about something you've seen, read, heard, etc. that gave you a feeling of goodness... Something that reminded you that God is still in control of this world, and because of that, there is still hope.

I went to pick up a few groceries this morning and as I went to hunt down an open lane, a guy who was probably in his early 30's passed me by pushing a stroller... that looked more like a caterpillar or semi-truck because it was so elongated (ever seen an 18-wheeler stroller??? It was kind of like that.)

As I paused to let them go past me, three tiny, adorable, IDENTICAL faces turned to look at me as they breezed on by... this stroller had compartments for three, and each was filled with a little boy about 2 years old who had a face resembling each of his other 2 brothers. It was a set of tiny identical triplet boys... all turning and looking at me curiously. I couldn't help but laugh and smile (and say a prayer for the parents... I mean, can you imagine having to raise triplets?!)

Now, I have to ask, how many times have YOU walked out of Walmart smiling about a group of people you've seen there... in a GOOD way... and not because you've just witnessed people getting into a fight, wearing things you wouldn't be caught wearing at home, let alone in public, etc.? That alone was a huge blessing.

But I also felt so special that God allowed this little family to cross right over my path at exactly the right time because it was just so beautiful to see.

Ok, so maybe not EVERYTHING is awesome.

But THIS certainly was.

What's YOUR "Everything Is Awesome" moment?

When in Florida last year I watched a very old couple all week long. He was always holding her hand. I watched him hold her hand and help her ease her foot into a wave rolling on shore... they picked up seashells together... He even held the ice cream wrapper for her so she could lick off the remaining ice cream. It was so precious. I'll never forget it. It was beautiful.

At the beach with my granddaughter sadie.....that in itself is awsome...sadie is a year and a half.......
As we sat digging under the umbrella a little girl who said she was 3...brought her doll and bucket
sat beside us and started to dig too.......she said her name was katy and she thought I had a pretty
baby...she gave sadie her doll and said she could share.....she patted sadie on the head and told her
she was cute......she was without a doubt my favorite person I ever met at the beach.....when her mom
came and said it was time to go......my sadie blew her a kiss and said bye bye.......
That was an awesomist.....lol....
These are my favorite threads....thankx

That must have been a very touching scene. What beach were you at in Florida?

I watched a guy lay into a cashier at the grocery store last week.

There was this little family there, a husband and wife and two little girls about the same ages as my kids (3ish and 1ish). We kept crossing each other's paths all through the store, and the whole family was just smiley and friendly. We ended up at the registers at the same time, different lanes- they were one ahead of me so I could see the girls playing in the shopping cart while their parents paid.

The baby started climbing out the end of the cart. Her sister was holding her hand, trying to keep her in, and the parents were starting to load bags into a different cart. My cashier was frequently looking over her shoulder as she rung up my stuff, and we both happened to be looking at the little girls when things started moving in slow motion...

The baby wiggled free from her sister, and got both feet over the edge of the cart just as both the mom and dad dropped what they were doing as though an alarm had sounded and turned to try to catch the baby.

They missed by half an inch, the baby hit the hard floor with her face and a sickening thud, the mom immediately scooped her up into her arms, and everyone nearby just froze for a few seconds.

Until the baby recovered enough to start crying.

The parents were both hugging their daughter and checking for injuries and my cashier turned back towards me and said something about bad parents and how she sees them all the time.

I didn't know what to say. Luckily, the guy in line behind me did.

He was really calm about telling this woman off. I don't remember everything he said, just that he had started out with "I've never seen such bad parenting in my life- showering that poor kid with love after an accident like that, what's the world coming to?"

I paid for my groceries, caught the eye of the mom still calming her baby, and left. But that...it's always awesome to see people stand up for each other when they don't have to.

I don't have any cute baby or old couple stories. This may not be exactly what you're asking, but it's the only thing that came to mind: at my parent's lake, their cat often lays out on the sidewalk in the sun. One particular day, a butterfly landed on the side walk right infront of where my cat was laying. It slowly creeped up closer and closer to the cat's face like it wanted to play or asking to be eaten. The cat could really care less, so it raised his head looked at and laid back down. Well that must have bothered the butterfly, since it flew up in the air and kept dive-bombing on the cat. He still couldn't care less, but was starting to get annoyed, so he sat up and swung at it, but missed. The butterfly then began swirling around my cat, dive-bombing, flying away, coming back- basically harassing the cat. In the end, it flew away, but we sure had a good laugh. I don't know whatever got into that butterfly, but it sure had some guts.

I guess it was just neat to witness.

There is an elderly man in my church who, for years, would help his wife to church. They sat right in front of us. Neither of them could stand very well, so they sat through the worship/song portion of the service, but when it was time for the reading of scripture they would always stand up. He would stand first, slowly and carefully. Then he would turn to her and ease her out of her seat. She wasn't mentally sound (though still a beautiful, quiet soul) so she often didn't understand why they were standing up, but she knew it was something important. It never failed to bless me, to be able to witness this love for one another and for the Lord.

She recently passed away. Now he sits alone in his seat, and stands up for the reading of the scripture. He misses his wife, but he said that the night of her passing was a night of worship and praise. They sang hymns, prayed together (all the family), and the presence of the Lord was there to comfort them and take her home.

about three or four weeks ago, i was hustling out of the grocery store, carrying a large paper bag full of groceries and holding a smaller plastic bag in the other hand. i had to adjust to grab my keys from my pocket (as i was approaching my vehicle) and right in the middle of the parking lot my large paper bag ripped, and 452435435 items spilled onto the parking lot (including a small watermelon that rolled under someone's car).

out of my periphery, this guy literally ran over and started helping me pick everything up. i was sort of laughing and he smiled and said, "yeah, i was having one of these days only yesterday" or something like that, and then carried everything to my truck for me.

as i turned to thank him again, he just said "you're welcome! and sorry, i've got to run, i'm already way late for a meeting!". and then he ran to his car and sped off.

the whole encounter seemed almost dream-like, the way he appeared out of nowhere and disappeared just like that!

i drove home with a grin on my face.

I was thinking about this yesterday, in spite of the fact that it happened 16 years ago. I was about to take the SAT, surrounded by complete strangers. When the instructor asked if there were any questions, I raised my hand at first. After a couple seconds, I lowered it before the lady even saw me, as I decided the answer was obvious enough. A guy then raised his hand and the instructor asked him what his question was. "She had a question" he said, pointing at me. "Oh, I was just wondering (fill in the blank), but I assumed the answer was (da-da-da), so I put my hand down". "Yes, you're right" the lady said. For some reason, it made me smile for quite some time that a guy helped me when he didn't have to do so, presumably thinking I might be too shy to ask for myself.

As I was typing that out, it occurred to me that the guy wasn't very close to me in the room, and I believe he would've had to turn around to see me. I wonder how he noticed my hand in the air. Perhaps he was paying more attention to me than I realized :).

Thanks for the thread, Kim; that brought back a happy memory =D.
