I prefer to do it on mornings. I can see myself more effective and energized during the morning. Before, I used to do my devotion before I go to bed but I end up sleeping during my meditation. LOL! I have even caught myself a couple of times sleeping while praying which is so bad, I know.

How about you, when do you usually spend your alone time with God? Morning? Midday? Nighttime?

Really it is throughout the day. I will wake up and have a chat with Him. We talk when I am driving, and I start doing some serious praising when I jog. At night is when I might do more of the study time when I have come down from the day. I will do some reading in the Word, usually watcha Bible study dvd I have for a session, and spend time in prayer at night. It really is a continual process though.

Ideally Bible reading and prep for the day and personal time with God happen first thing in the morning. Lately however that alarm has been ringing far too early and I've developed a bad habit of rolling over for "5 more minutes" of sleep, which never ends up being just five minutes. Really I just need to apply a self imposed rule of no getting on the computer until after I've had time with God.

All of the above. We are to establish a relationship with Jesus and that means spiritually 24/7. Unfortunately, most Christians (lukewarm/hypocrites) will only spend time with God when they get into trouble or need a favor.

Usually in the mornings when I log on here and go to prayer requests forum to answer prayers from others. Sometimes I read my bible at night, but I also end up falling asleep!! :)

It was early in the mornings when I was alone but lately I've found myself sitting with my bible on my lap reading it all through the day. So for me; at this point in my life the answer would be all day.

If there was a time limit, then I would choose the morning. But the good thing we can go to God any time of the day. So there is no limits......

Every morning without fail, and before bed without fail.

Sometimes during the day, but maily when I can give Him my undivided attention as I know He speaks fully to my heart this way.

If you fell asleep with such a big smile I see in your avatar, I wouldn´t mind to log on here daily to see your joy.

Do we sin if we end up falling asleep in the middle of praying? What are your thoughts on this matter? I'm very much guilty of it.

I recently read something very beautiful and touching about this subject in a devotional a few weeks ago.

The author was remorseful over have fallen asleep during too many prayer sessions as well, but then had the thought, "What parent doesn't love it when their child climbs up into their lap to talk with them and winds up falling asleep in their arms?"

I would imagine God feels the same way about us, and is touched that we want to "climb up into His lap" to talk with Him.

Now if it's other issues--for instance, if you're falling asleep because you're not taking care of yourself or spent too much time on something that's taking away from your prayer time (like TV or video games) then yes, you may be paying attention to other things and need to curb some behaviors. But just being human and falling asleep while talking to God?

I have to wonder if in some ways... God finds it rather adorable, because no matter how grown or successful or old we are, we are still God's little child when we approach Him.

I can't imagine a better way to fall asleep than with words to God on my heart. I often pray in bed before falling asleep, and I used to feel guilty about it as well, but I feel like God has reassured me that keeping communion with him in those soft moments and drifting to sleep with him on my mind is a wonderful thing. Much better than falling asleep worrying about all the stuff I need to do the next day.

No. I am sure that God appreciates the effort. :)

I basically spend all day with him in praise and thanksgiving. I read the bible during the day usually. Being disabled gives me the time to do it then.

I'm working on spending my focus time with him in the mornings, I admit though that half the time I don't make it... It's hard for me to wake up by 4:30 am everyday lol. But God continues to inspire me to keep trying.

But I chat and pray to him thru out the day. Read my bible at work during my break if I get a chance. Go to evening church stuff. I love listening to christian radio. Ever since I stopped listening to the secular radio channels And found christian radio it has been awesome, since it's a 30 minute drive... Get sermons and worship that way too. :) I usually read scripture before I go to bed as well. Some days we have family meetings to focus on what God has for our family.

I definitely do not think God frowns on us if we fall asleep during our time with him... But God should be #1 priority, as even Jesus would wake up before everyone else did to spend time with the Lord. What it does show us is our priorities... Like... How come you fell asleep? What did you spend your energy on that leaves no more energy for God? Or how can I go to bed earlier so that I can wake up more refreshed to spend time with God so that I don't fall asleep? I think we should always strive for our best with God, not because of works, but the more time you spend and focus on him the more blessed and aware you will be of his presence in your daily life.

This is really good stuff. I am going to read it again.
