That picture is quite ugly. Going overboard on anything can be ugly. Moderation is key. :)
Moderation would beat that person's piercing's by a mile. So would no piercings.

It's basically an individual decision when it comes to tattoos and piercings. It is probably in the best interest of the single person who wants to be married, though, to put a little more thought into what s/he does and how it will affect a potential mate's perception of her/him.

Most don't seem to mind traditional piercings(the ears). From there, though, opinions widen in a hurry.

Tattoos, in my observations, aren't as readily accepted. Some(myself not included) believe the OT law applies to them. Others accept them but express concern over the meaning they convey. Others just don't see them as enhancers.

My thoughts. :)

You could always do what I did. I got one that I designed and it has meaning to it. It is Christian themed but not overtly. It has lead to some interesting conversations.
I guess I could. That's a good suggestion. :)

I have henna tattoos and both of my ears pierced. In the future I would like a real tattoo on my wrist but it's conflicting as if I get it I won't be able to get my hanna tattoos on my wrist anymore. I am also considering a lip piercing and possibly my upper ear.

I don't concern myself with what others view/think of me. I only concern myself with what God thinks of me. I grew up being concerned with others perception of me and was in constant agony because most couldn't see past my weight or financial situation. When I finally stopped worrying over others and concentrated on God did I finally have peace and was able to work on becoming a better person thru God's love. That enabled me to work on the things I wasn't happy with about myself. Mostly it gave me confidence in who I am in Christ. What I am saying is not to be concerned over what the world thinks of you but only be concerned about what God thinks of you. Everything else will simply fall in to place or fall by the wayside.

Why not adopted the attitude that if someone can't accept me as i am, then it's not meant to be? Doesn't God know ahead of time what we will do and how it will affect us? So wouldn't God have people for us who are able to accept or even enjoy the choices we've made? I just don't think living your life according to 'IF i Might get married one day i need to live my life basing my decisions off of how this person Might be'. When in reality if you love tats or piercings you may finds them meet someone who finds that aspect of you appealing. Living your life for someone you don't know anything about is not using wisdom. Its conforming to something you know nothing about. When in reality it may work against you. Just be yourself. You'll be happier being yourself and single than pretending to be someone you're not in marriage.

Tattoos not as readily accepted? Tats are wildly accepted anymore. No longer are tats reserved for military and criminals but business professionals, doctors, lawyers, you name it. Granted the choice to display them may not always be a valid or wise option in some professions, but these people are still getting them.
And this includes among Christians. Tats on Christian are fairly common anymore. I've known countless Christians with tats. Even on some people you might perceive as 'too conservative'. And before you try to shoot my point down, no, these were not tats gotten before being saved, but Christians tats.
Sometimes our perceptions can be skewed by who we choose to interact with and where we choose to look.

Wildy accepted anymore?

Sometimes our perceptions can be skewed by who we choose to interact with and where we choose to look. Working at a mall doesn't skew my perception. Nor does my location. My observations and opinion are based on what I see.

theology aside ...... that pretty little butterfly on an 18 year old girl's ankle will look like a weird birthmark by the time she's 35

lol if the tattoo is done with a reputable artist that uses good ink, it will still look new at that age. Mine is 20 years old and still looks fresh. When I had it done, it was so bright that people thought it wasn't real.

Yes, I've got a couple tats. Scriptures does say to the effect of "don't do it..," but you have to put it into context. Its talking about the pagan religious themed tats of the day. I received my 82D Airborne tat in service, and am proud of it...but don't worship anything about it; same goes for my navy tat. A tat has to mean something you know you're carrying with you for your mortal life...unfortunately, some people get addicted, and some people don't think before they act. It's a part of the motorcycle subculture I belong to, so most people I know have tats. My ex wanted to put my name just above her butt...I hesitated before telling her not to...and once she started cheating on me, I had second thoughts about that decision. THINK before you INK! As for piercings ...as a former Peace officer we LOVED catching perps with nipple piercings and such...and ESPECIALLY if they wore their pants way down low (and we laugh because they don't know what that means in prison!)

Tats are personal art, maybe piercings are too. It's not a turn-off, ...unless they become an interference...like butt tats.

I guess the multiple tattoo based shows. The reported springing up of new tattoo shops and growth in the tattoo artist industry. The surge in all things tattoo related. Magazines. Conferences. But oh. You work at the mall. So you've got it on lock down.
Perhaps being that creepy guy sitting in the otherwise empty Singles room and not talking to anyone isn't getting you out as much as you think.

Ad hominem.

Not worth the time.

I have a tattoo of my own. It is a meaningful phrase and not at all offensive. I would date a guy if he had tattoos and maybe piercings. It depends. Not attracted to the ones completely covered in them like the tattoo sleeves or if they are meaningless pictures such as skulls and ugly things like that. As for piercings...eh. Not really into those.

I've got a tattoo on the left side of my chest over my heart, and it says "Fragile"

On the right side of my chest, there's a tattoo that says "If You Break It, You Buy It"

You've been warned!!!!

This verse has nothing to do with modern tattoos.

(Not really a big tattoo fan myself, but we have to look at context in scripture.)

I certainly hope Kendrick is following these also (from the same chapter)

[SUP]19 [/SUP]“‘Keep my decrees.
“‘Do not mate different kinds of animals.

“‘Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
“‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.
