I got the idea for starting this thread after reading Rush's thread. Please be advised that this post will be long. If you cannot read long posts, please skip this one.

I have had a few weird dreams in the recent past (say a couple of years). Some are weird because they were prophetic in nature and some were weird because it felt like a scene out of Inception. Let me share some of them with you.

The prophetic dreams

These dreams usually happened as an answer to my prayers. But they were dreams and not visions -

- A year ago, I had quit my job and I was without one for 2 months. As my savings were dwindling, I moved in with my parents. I was praying to God for a job. I dreamt that I got a job with a big company in the city where my parents lived. When I had this dream, I did not even have an interview in my hand. Still, the opportunity came through within a couple of weeks. Today, I am working in a big company in the same city where my parents live.

- A few months ago, I dreamt of a person, who was very close to our family, passing away. At that time he was weak but nobody expected him to pass away. Within a week or so, he passed away.

These are not coincidences. I have a history of such dreams. Once I was asking God to help me clear a paper that I was sure I would flunk. That night I dreamt that I was in a class and the teacher told the entire class that the authorities made everyone pass this time. When the results were out, I did clear the paper. Another time I was worried of a major expense I brought to my parents. I dreamt that dad was not upset about it. And it turned out to be true.

When I wake up after having such a dream, I have this strong feeling that God had spoken to me through it. That is how I discern between a random dream and a 'prophetic' dream. There are a couple of dreams which are yet to be fulfilled but I am sure they will, if God wills.

'Inception' dreams

These are like a dream within a dream. What makes it weird is the way I come out of it. I had one about a couple of months back but I don't remember everything. I will try and reconstruct it to the best I can. Most of the details are very hazy now because this was a while back.

I dreamt that I was doing something with somebody I knew. I think it was my dad, but I don't remember now. We are travelling along some field to do this work. The sky is cloudy and it is around evening. As I walk, I am thinking to myself 'Oh I know what will happen now'. I proceed to dream something. I am dreaming of being in a fight or something like that. Somebody is bound up and he is being held by captors. Two groups of people are fighting over that person. Eventually that person is freed. The ropes are cut loose by one of the victors. This person stretches his hands and looks at his wrists. As he looks at the scars on his wrists, the dream pans out.

I find myself standing over a photo of the last scene of that dream - of that person looking at the scars on his wrists. It was just developed so I am examining it under a pendant light. I am inside a room and there is somebody who is developing the photos. Suddenly from nowhere, a leech falls on my shoulder. Then another falls on the photo. Then another falls. Then two more. Then five more. Then it starts raining leaches everywhere - the photo, the light-bulb, me, on the room, on everything in the room. And then the scene pans out. I open my eyes and I am lying in bed.

---------------------------

A big thank you to those who have reached my long post. Have any of you guys had such weird dreams? Please share them if you don't mind. :)

I have plenty of inception dream. I will only share one. I dreamt that I was sitting on a pool with my feet under the water full of snakes. For me, as a person with herpetophobia or fear of reptiles, that dream was very strange and weird.

Most of the times I dreamt of people I knew and as soon as I told them about my dreams, they all come true. I took the dream as a warning sign. Or dream could be a gift of discernment. It depends.

About your dream, is there a family member of yours who are in conflict with your parents? I guess you have to deal with this person 'coz if not, it will suck your energy. Prolonging it will make the leaches fall more and more. You'll get tired yet the situation lies the same. That's all I could think of.

I hate the dreams where I wake up, then I wake up, then I wake up, and each time I think I'm really awake... but then I wake up. Grrrr!

All I can think of is Franz Ferdinand.

Jokes aside, I have lucid dreams quite a bit. They've taught me much about myself.

Whatever your dreams are, i like them all 'coz dream is created with a purpose. The purpose is beyond my knowledge. I usually go to the Creator to consult about the dream then ask the people involved.

I agree with you. If the dream involves a person we know about, then they must be consulted.

Recently I dreamed that i was standing in the cliff watching a tsunami rise from the trench . Google said my subconscious is trying to rise to the surface. I also had flying dream and still water before. Flying dreams means success is at hand and still water dream is associated with inner peace.

I once had a very bad dream that I signed up to a website that had a bunch of crazy Christian weirdos on it, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't walk away from the site, and I signed in almost everyday.

Wait a minute................. it's not a dream!

IT'S NOT A DREAM!!!

Yes, to your thread title question. As to prophetic dreams, yes, I've had a great many that always come true (like seeing the future), but part of my nature is scientific. I experimented with the dreams, the outcomes, the factors...changing variables, observing, and experimenting... I now have deja vu and dreams such as these far less frequently. Many reasons, I'm sure...but this could be partly to blame.

As for "Inception" dreams, I've both had dreams within dreams and dreams which I realized were dreams and could control.

Dreams are actually an interesting subject for me. I was plagued by terrible nightmares every night as a child...horrible and vivid ones, some based in reality, and others more symbolic/out-there... I eventually started praying each night that God would take all my bad dreams from me and not let me dream, or if I did dream, that they'd be good ones. I didn't really struggle with nightmares much in the rest of my life after that period, but it took a good decade before I stopped praying that prayer. Anyway...

I'm not much of an interpreter of dreams, but I'm certainly well acquainted with them in their various forms and facets.

Wow. I would like to be the subject of a study for dreams. I am sure I have something to offer. I don't remember if I have been in dreams where I could control. But sometimes my senses have been alert in my dreams, like I can even analyze the situation, make calculated judgments and even talk to myself. I don't think all dreams are merely figment of one's imagination. There could be something more to it. And I would happily volunteer to be a subject if somebody is researching into it.

I have lots of post apocalyptic dreams where I'm saving the world. They're really kinda awesome. I also have dreams from God and can almost always differentiate between those and every other dream. I very rarely dream about anything or anyone in my every day life.

I remember several dreams each night mostly due to my meds- but even before meds- I would remember a lot. Lots of reoccurring dreams, usually can track them to a show or a happening in my daily life.

Saying that, I have had religious dreams- not sure if I would call then prophetic tho- I had a dream about the end of the world a few days before getting baptized, I guess the enemy was working hard cus he put doubt into my mind whether or not I should actually get baptized, so I prayed and had that dream. It was very symbolic. I would go into more detail, but it's 3am.

Also, a few years back I got into intercessory prayer and would do it before bed. I had a dream that I was sitting in my livingroom and these people kept coming in and out of my house, putting and taking mail out of mail slots on the other side of my wall from my bed headboard. After a while, I questioned these people and got annoyed so I marched up to them to tell them to leave, as soon as I was about to speak, this tall lady entered the house and pushed past me with a bible in her hand, put it on the table, she asked if anyone had laid hands on me in prayer, I said no. She asked if she could, I said ok. We knelt on the ground, she clutched me in to her chest, she was adamant that my eyes must remain closed. I saw brilliant colors, words flashing by like music, didn't understand any of it. It stopped. I looked up. She was gone. Bible was still on the table. (The mail had to with the prayers I was saying I am guessing, what was prayed over me I have no clue...).

I also have had a I guess what you would call a demonic dream. I made a covenant with God 7 years ago not to have sex before marriage. A few years back, I had a dream where I gave in to this one good looking guy, then I realized I was tricked when his face changed to a demon. I tried to get away, but I couldn't. It took days for me to shake the feeling of being violated.

Okay so I always happen to have dreams of war which leave me drained and exhausted the next morning... It's always the same thing and it's never flesh against flesh... when I talk about war, I'm talking about spiritual war. I find myself in the middle of it all and fighting what seems to be something evil... My sister says I talk in my sleep and I tend to preach lol... It's pretty weird but I have also experienced spiritual attacks while asleep... It comes and goes... I have noticed that the frequency increases as I draw closer to God.

Anyone else experience this?
