Coconut oil a great moisturizer for really dry winter skin. Apply after a bath/shower so it soaks into pores.

When you are sick to your stomach, catnip tea is a great way to quiet the stomach. No, I'm not saying that because my nick is Lynx! :p If we ever got the 24-hour stomach bug mom would brew up some catnip in hot water, strain it, add honey and give it to us to drink. It always worked. Health food stores sell bulk catnip leaves or can order them.

I didn't know that. I will keep it in mind for the next time someone gets a splinter.

On a more serious note..

Bananas help keep your blood pressure regular

Bananas also help relieve water retention

Fish oil (specifically the omega-3 fatty acids in them) help lower cholesterol. The omega-3's are actually good cholesterols (HDLs - High Density Lipoproteins). Fish oil is available in pill form.

Eating protein with every meal helps slow digestion of carbs and that helps prevent spikes in blood sugar levels which can lead to diabetes.. so eat your meat! or you can't have any pudding! (<<Pink Floyd reference)

Aspirin helps prevent heart attacks and strokes by preventing blood platelets from sticking together. One baby aspirin a day can be taken as a prophylactic (preventative measure) for heart attacks and strokes.

Vinegar has a ton of health benefits, but most successful for my family is as a cure for arthritis. My grandmother and mother both had bad arthritis in their hands, started drinking a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water daily, and their arthritis completely went away.

We'll file this one away to tell whoever ends up marrying Holly. He'll probably need this information.

Any cures for headaches, too.

On a serious note -

For an upset stomach: Boil a mix of arrowroot powder and water. Cool the mix and drink a glass of it.

For aches/pains: Apply eucalyptus oil on the sore area before you sleep. Wash it off in the morning.

Also, if you have cracks in the sole of your foot just scrub the area well and wash well with soap. A few days of scrubbing is enough to get rid of the cracks.
