I'm shooting for this not being true. It's possible but not probable since there are not many vehicles that have that much range available in the fuel tank. Most vehicles require a stop every four to six hours (interstate driving) to get a certain gauge off of E :p

It was a long time ago. My Mom and I were driving in her smaller car from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts to visit my Sister. We just wanted to get there. I drove the whole way, but your right about the gas thing, we were on I90 oh and we did have to stop and pay tolls, so maybe like 6 hours? It felt like a long time. We made good time there and back we both like to go. She's 75 now so I don't know how well that would go over anymore.

The almost being born in the car thing is something my Mom brings up sometimes. I was the 6th kid of 6 kids, so I guess the last and probably most eventful stuck in her mind. It was also 1970 so I don't know if people sued as much back then.

I was being a smart aleck since most people (myself included) don't consider a quick stop for fuel to be a real stop. I used to routinely drive from So Cal to Grand Junction Co (12 hours) "non-stop" since IMO stopping just long enough to fill the tank and run through the drive through really doesn't qualify as a stop.

I'll give this a whirl.

1) I've walked away from 10 roll over crashes without serious injury.

2) I am related to at least two persons of significance in CA history even though my family hails from the north east.

3) I have traveled to (or through) at least 25 different states.

Wow, if stopping for fuel and fast food doesn't count... When I was younger I drove from MI to AL and back twice, by myself, in the days before there were cell phones, so I had no way of contacting anyone in case of an emergency.

The total driving time was over 18 hours each way, but it took me about 21. I stopped once or twice and tried to sleep in well-lit, 24-hour McDonald's parking lots, but that only lasted 15 minutes or so. It helps that I'm a bit of an insomniac, and would leave at 1 or 2 in the morning on the initial way down there. I could handle 5 hours of driving in the dark, and once daylight hits, I'm pretty much awake until the sun sets again (maybe I'm some kind of reverse vampire... although these days I don't sleep much at night, either!) What can I say, when you're young, you do some stupid things.

Oncefallen, I am also betting that of your fun facts, only #1 isn't true. You always have very interesting stories to tell, so I look forward to your elaborations :).

Catherder, if you were bitten by a vampire bat, should I call you "Catcula"???

I hate to disappoint, but in reality all of them are true.

1) I have walked away from (I didn't say been involved in) way more than 10 rollover crashes. I drove a tow truck for a living for seven years so I was on scene at plenty of rollover crashes. I've only been involved in two.

2) I am distantly related on my father's side to former Gov. Leland Stanford (for whom Stanford University was named) and Henry Mayo Newhall (turn of the century railroad and land baron). Back in the 70's the corporation that his heirs founded was the largest private landholder in CA.
Leland Stanford - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry Newhall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

3) I won't bore you all with the list.
