Do you ever feel as though what you are doing with your life is just not enough?

You help people. You give. You pray. You witness. You encourage. You love. You feed. You cloth. You share. You teach. You learn. You submit. You serve.

Then you turn on the news...see a world headed straight for hell....and become so frustrated. You want to do more and more and more.

It's times like this when I hear voices of wisdom in my head:

1. Whatever you do, do it in love, release it to God, and He will multiply it; and
2. You can't serve Him if your spirit is empty.

So you lay down your sword for a time of restoration. Pick it up again and walk on. We gotta finish this race.

Those were the words I needed today, and have needed on many days before today.
Maybe I should bookmark this thread.

If one person is helped by this, it is enough. God bless you.

That's a great reminder Jullianna. I miss seeing your posts on here.

I remember when I was working at my last job a couple of years ago, there were only 5 of us on the shift. 3 of those people were really close, and when I started spending time with them, I got really close with them and began to learn more about their pains and struggles all through life, and it was heartbreaking.

I would do whatever I could in a heartbeat that would help ease the pain they were dealing with. I would strive in any way I could to help them see there was hope, and the whole time, all I could think of was, how many other people in the world are hurting like this?

It's difficult to see all the worlds problems and know you can't do anything. But the whole thing rests in Gods hands, not our own.

We can never do enough because it cannot be enough. Jesus is the only one who was perfect.

If anything, whatever we do it has to be done for the glory of God because anything other than that is for our selfish motives.

Honestly, how much of the so called charity isn't driven by self absorption and pride?
We like to pat ourselves on the back for the "good" we do to others and fuel our narcissism further.

Jesus said, when you do it for the least of your brethren, you did it for me.

I think it's our privilege to share in the suffering and misfortunes of others. To help those who are rejected. It should never be enough.

We might think we're doing enough and a whole lot of good, but God judges the motives of our hearts. If the driving factor is a self centered, feel-good-about-yourself approach, it is bound to lead to failure.

To accept those rejected, just like how Jesus accepted us, is our blessing. It's not a burden. We are the blessed opportunists.

We are the ones who gain from doing these things, because we do it for God. It's not about us at all. It's for Him and Him alone.

Think about it....God placed each one of us right where He wants us. So I say brighten the corner where you are. You are the light of the world placed exactly where God wants you. Love them, lead by example and live like Jesus would. Trust and obey God have faith in His leading your life as He has designed you to be and live right where you are.

The Spirit of God moves us, gives us the desire to be more like our Lord; but we know we can never out give Him, don't we? :)

We can take heart in knowing that when we genuinely do all in love, He will bless it and multiply it. It is so important to check our motives and realize that it is the things of the Spirit that will truly be blessed in abundance.

As for the motives of others, we must leave that to God. We don't know them. We can't see them. But He can. It is tough enough to keep one's own heart in check, isn't it? :)

He can heal impure motives and cynicism. He even brings good from any intent of evil, doesn't He? :)

Romans 8:28
And we know that in in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

How many times have we been prompted to do something? Do we listen and obey? Could be God's still small voice doing the whispering.... Listen I think He is calling you.

Seriously, though, I cannot do enough. But I serve one who can. All I can do is my part and then (and this is the important, difficult bits that gets stuck)...do my part, THEN hand it over to Him to do what I cannot, renew myself in Him, take weary comfort by His side accepting both my limitations and His strength and allowing myself to be ministered to in what ways I need, THEN (AND ONLY THEN) should I pick up my sword and carry on on with doing my little part. I should neither give up nor should I fail to let myself have the periodic solace and ministering to that I need to continue the battle.

Thank you again for this reminder.

Lastly, and maybe this is what calls out the men in the white coats to come get me, but in my head, I could hear the same lyrics being done in a battle rap style by a coarse sounding voiced man, admitting that no matter how street tough he may seem, that he has to take it home to the Lord to be able to make it another day.

I agree with most here when they say "we can never do enough". We can't, but we put all of our TRUST in the only ONE that can and that's the beauty of it all. I've been looking at this in a new way lately. All we can do is put out trust in Him, and I try my best to live my life guided by the Holy Spirit that He put in to each one of us for no other reason than His unfathomable mercy and grace. So I will try my hardest to resist my flesh, as feeble as that attempt may be on my own, when it's only even possible through the power of the Holy Spirit, and try to please Him in complete undeserved gratitude. I know it will NEVER be enough, but with our great Lord it doesn't have to be, He did all the work for us and gives us His stamp of approval. I realized that God knows every decision we're going to make, even before we're even born He knows where we will die. He knows all, which means no matter what any of us ever chooses to do, we can't "foil" Gods plan for us. No matter how big or small we think about it, we can't fail Him or "score extra points" (I mean that as in we can't do things that impress God), but personally that doesn't discourage me from trying my hardest to serve Him with all my heart, not to "impress" Him but to thank His mighty name.

Love, love, love this :) EXACTLY...the purpose is because we love Him. An all-consuming love that drives. Nothing less is truly fruitful, is it?

Not at all, and it's been hitting me very hard lately and I love it, I really like seeing the conversations here (even the debates sometimes they get a little to heated, but we are talking about the same Spirit that binds us. I've never been very social, much more private, and stand offish, but the power of the Holy Spirit is starting to lead me to seek out fellow believers and real causing me to feel great love for them as well. If I get started I'll have a wall of text no one will read so I leave you with, "thanks for starting the topic and the kind words, all glory to His mighty name".

Define "enough." The job is daunting when you look at the whole world and all that is needed, and compare it to what you have and what you can do with it. It will never be "enough."

I am only one
But I am one
I can't do everything
But I can do something
The something I ought to do, I can do
And by the grace of God, I will
