This is going to be posted more than once. So accept it =P

I'm posting this for a friend who feels her English would not be good enough to explain herself well. So please, if possible, keep the answers a bit more simply worded so she won't struggle with understanding.

They recently got a new Xbox 360. They got it connected online already, so that part is good. I guess it came with a free month. But they are having trouble making downloads work. Here are some of the issues as best i can understand.

-Some downloads do not work at all
-Others only seem to install demos
-Some are even listed as 'free' yet won't download

So, is there a catch? Something they're missing? I've never touched an Xbox, so i have no clue.
She also wanted to know if there was a way to play it online without downloading.

Lastly she is asking for any other helpful tips on using it.

She will be checking for answers, but i won't be around to help for her hours, meanwhile her poor kids are waiting haha. So, again, please be clear and simple in explanations, as English is not her first language.

I'm not exactly sure what she doesn't want to download, but I think I have an idea.

When you begin to play a game on your xbox, it will usually ask if you want to install updates for the game shortly after booting the game up. You have to do this in order to play xbox live.

Read the description of the downloads carefully. Downloads can range from videos, to demos, to outfits for your avatar, to gamer pictures, etc. Some games even have additional content that can be downloaded for free, but still require ownership of the main game.

I don't think I've run into any free games on xbox live, so I'm thinking she may have downloaded something else for the game such as a video trailer.
