The Bible is the only source of spiritual law and truth as many, if not all of us on here, would agree. So why then done overlook so many things on it that are fundamental to our faith? Is it because our parents said so? Our preacher? Best friend? Let me share some common bible misconceptions that can help you get to be where you want to be on your spiritual journey.

For Christians the Bible should be our only authority. If someone is not a Christian then obviously the Bible holds no purpose to them. But for Christians the Bible itself indicates that it is the only source: Gal. 1:8 "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." The we there is Paul referring to himself and the other apostles.

The Bible is not just any other book for Christians. To the rest of the world if may be, but for Christians we are to accept it as law, it is our map or our guide through life to reach a heavenly goal. We are instructed to accept all the words in the Bible Rev. 22:18-19 "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

I think I get your point. I'm struggling with it too. Why are we taking some parts of the Bible too literally and some parts obviously not. But he. I don't think you're gonna find an answer on here.

One thing I notice, is that most Christians I know ignore the Red Letters. That is all the things Jesus actually said in the 4 Gospels. Read those things, then ask serious questions, are the majority of Christians following this? Are they even trying to follow what Jesus said?

Just be warned, you may not like the answer. My conclusion at 18 was: No, they are not.

Jesus wasn't a politician or a News Anchor. Most Christians follow those before they follow what Jesus said in the Gospels.

The Red letters are great but there is more to the Gospel than just the words that Jesus spoke. Yes, he was the Pivot, the turning point, one might add...but there is a bigger picture to the puzzle. Jesus is just a piece of it :)

What, in your opinion, is being overlooked?

Exactly! Jesus was a prime player in the New Testament law, but the apostles, being under the influence of the Holy Spirit, wrote words that are to guide ones life just as equally. They were left behind to teach ALL that Jesus had taught them was to was to be done, they were given the Holy Spirit so that all things could come to there remembrance without flaw or error.
