Hello. I'm
a college student aiming to
be a Youth
Minister or similar someday. I have an assignment where I need to interview certain categories of people and get answers to two questions. I have contacted a church for help and advice in this area but I thought I'd post the questions here as a back up for at least partial credit. The information might be useful to me in my major anyway.
What I need is at least two teenagers (preferably a younger one as well) to provide answers to the questions below. You may say as much or as little as you like and can even PM if you prefer.
1. In your opinion, what are the major issues facing teenagers today?
2. What is being done by the church, school, parents, and society as a whole to
address these issues?
Thank you very much
What are the major issues facing teenagers today?
Not to make this more difficult but which teen's will you be targeting? Hopefully you're not restricted or limited to only the Christian teen's on this assignment... lol
Maybe it's just me, but i'd say be creative... You just can't target teens as a whole in society and expect change for all. Teen's today... They're like dog breeds with their many different social groups... Although they're all the same species, what might help one breed may not help the other and only cause more damage... Unless your instructor is a narrow minded Christian who would fail you for doing this idea that i'm about to give you, i'd address the many different social groups and pick two different social groups outside of your comfort zone. For example, look into the issues facing either Emo teen's, Goth teen's, Vampires, Prep's, Jock's, Metal Heads, Hipsters, Rapper's, LGBT, rich teens, middle class teens, poor teens, teen's living in the inner city ghetto's, popular teens, drifters, loners, NHS, juvi criminal teen's, drug addicted teen's, alcohol addicted teen's, teen's who are pregnant, teen's who have children, the Islamic community, other religious teen's etc... Unless you're restricted within the Christian bubble, how can the church, the school, the parents help these teens out?
If you go out of the limb and do your research for number one, that will make the answer to number two very interesting... I mean, any Christian with a little faith can help a Christian with their issues... But can a Christian, a parent, a school, a church, "LISTEN" and help an outsider on their issues?
You're going to school to become a Youth Minister. That's freaking awesome and I'm very happy and excited for you! I just pray with how the world is today that they're training you to have an open mind on society as a whole and not just helping those within your comfort zone.
Wishing you the best on your endeavors!
God Bless!
