I have a best friend that lives in Ohio I live In ct ... I talked to him all the time either texting or calling. He has been struggling with depression for the past few years and hes been sending weird texts, like I asked him, How are you and he texts back saying "alive" or "it doesn't matter" and that's it. I asked him what was wrong and he says things like "don't worry about it" or "nothing" and then he'd change the subject. last month he stopped texting me and calling me. I'm really worried that something bad has happened to him. I know he was also dealing with his grandpas death a couple months earlier, But its not like him to do something like this... I'm really worried and I cant get in contact with his family so what do I do?

Pray... put it in God's hands. What more could you do?

You sound like a deeply caring girl, you know that right? But sometimes that can make you vulnerable. Text him again and say that you're still there for him but you wont bother him anymore untill he wants to talk to you. Take the responsibility off yourself and put it back on him, this is what is called "putting the ball in a persons court" now do nothing untill he communicates with you. If that happens we'll go from there.

If he is suffering from depression. Then listen to him. Let yourself be a sounding board, but also strike down the false ideas, "I"ll never be happy" or things like that. But when he says he feels that way, there is no combating that other than helping him realize his feelings do not dictate the world around him.

I am also in Ohio if he needs someone else to talk to or another friends support. I am also battling with depression myself and am confused because doctors tell me I am very hard to be diagnosed. I could be Schizophrenic or Bi Polar or even both. Who knows??? Anyways, I need friends and people to hang with.
