Dear ccers,

I'd love to hear your opinion.
Maybe you've read this blog (Why I Chose To No Longer Wear Leggings)
about a woman, who decided to stop wearing close pants and stuff.
What do you think? Guys: Do you have a problem with yogapants?
Girls: How do you deal with it?

God bless you,
Channa

I personally have no problem with them. However, I think that they - and leggings - can be worn in a modest fashion, that is both flattering and allows the girl to feel comfortable wearing it. I think it depends on the person as to how they feel about that sorta thing, and what type of image they want to give off to people in public. The decision to wear them is completely up to the girl.

As a teen girl, i LIVE in my yoga pants and leggings. Like. I dont own very many jeans. I find yoga pants and leggings more comfortable while still looking nice. However, if i am to go out in public in them, i always wear a nice long shirt (dressy or atm sweaters) to make sure it covers the right areas. It's something to pray about though. If you're not wearing them for the wrong reasons, i dont see anything wrong with them. :)

Guys. The point of this question is not about yoga. And obviously it comes down to the girl making her own choice. The question here seems to be more of do these kinds of clothing, when worn on women, have any affect on you as a male, because of the tighter nature of the clothes.

The simple answer for most men will be yes. How a woman dresses, be it tight clothing, revealing clothing, low cut/short clothing, etc.. is going to have an affect on most men. Period.

If we want to get into the blame game, both men and women are responsible. Men are responsible to do their best to control their thoughts and where their eyes go, but women are also responsible for how much they reveal about their bodies and display it. Neither gender is exempt, though many times people like to put alllll the blame on one or the other.
In reality the bible says that if someone is weak and struggling with an issue it is the responsibility of the person that may cause the stumble to change, at least in the presence of the weaker person. Which is the opposite of what most Christians seem to believe. The person struggling is already doing their part, which is why they are in a struggle.

Also there is the consideration that the vast majority of guys are not trying to contain their lust. If a woman walks around in clothes that may get a mans attention on her body, you are responsible for causing people to lust after you. Granted unless you want to go Muslim and wear head to toe garb, then you have a risk of this anyways. But dressing in a manner that increases that chance by putting emphasis on your body falls on you.
The issue always falls onto 'Christian men shouldn't lust'. But even if we eliminated lust among Christian men, the bible still speaks of dressing modestly. And you still have the majority of non-Christian men willing and seeking to lust, and providing that opportunity as a Christian still falls on you i believe.

While both sexes should dress modestly its a hard line to draw. What one person sees as modest another wont.I've been in certain churches that forbade women from wearing high heels because it causes a man to "lust".Other churches Ive been to dont allow makeup as this can cause a man to sin.So where is the line? And where is the responsibility of men to guard their hearts and minds? In todays society its hard to avoid skin, its everywhere.Women do not dress modestly and to me that means no low cut tops, tight revealing clothes or skirts/dresses that are too high above the knee. That sounds simple enough. But to another that is not modest enough. Its a tricky question.I know churches that put women in bondage over what they wear and the men take no responsibility for their sin of lust. Not sure where that line is because different things attract different people. It seems a subjective thing.
I did check out the FB of the lady in the article and noticed she is wearing a nose ring. That to me is not attractive or ladylike.Nor are tattoos on women.Others may not have a problem.Very subjective I think.

There may not be a set line, but so many things that should be more obvious are being worn by women who are Christians. Many Christian women seem to reflect they hold zero responsibility for how they dress, so they dress in whatever is current, regardless of how much it shows. It's a very simple point, really, make an effort. I think, above all, that's the key. The key isn't to deter every man from every chance of lust, but to take steps to dress in a reasonable manner fitting to a people who believe in sexual purity.
Also, if you notice my post, i did say that the burden falls on both men and women. Women are often quick to point the finger and say 'where is the mans responsibility?', which i've yet to hear any Christian man deny that they have no responsibility. Meanwhile, the women complaining men don't take responsibility for their actions (which isn't even true among the Christian men i've known) are wearing clothes that are tighter, shorter, lower. Sometimes i think women are so busy complaining about the men they forgot to pay attention to their own personal responsibility.
Naturally this does not apply to all women, but it's becoming a more prevalent attitude. As i stated before, both men and women hold responsibility to control their thoughts/eyes for men and for women to take an effort to be more modest. It's a shared issue, not one sided.

That reminds me of a story an older pastor friend of mine told me.He use to pastor a church out in CA in the 70s when women began to wear pants to church. So he saw this young woman one Sunday who was wearing pants and after the service he took her aside and gently told her that dresses were preferred in the church.Would she mind wearing one next time she came? No problem. He said the next Sunday the young woman came back in a "gownless evening strap" of a dress,he called it.He took the lady aside again and told her to go back to wearing pants.lol lol So the moral of the story is some people have no common sense in dressing.Ive seen men wearing shirts unbuttoned too far, women notice things too.A man my be more visual but a woman can be that way too.I've heard some ladies making comments on mens body parts the way a man would to a woman. So as I said the issue of modesty is hard because its subjective.Someone may think they are modest and you and I would not think so.When I travelled in ministry I always had pins to put in the front of my tops, the Lord er blessed me there,so I had to be careful of tops I wore,my sister, not so blessed, could wear tops I couldn't.But we had the taste and common sense to know that. How do you teach modesty? I don't know.

I think this is absolutely ridiculous!!! Women should be absolutely 100% of whomever they are. If a women is a little extra voluptuous or has "more junk in the trunk" she shouldn't have to not wear certain clothing because of it. Women are not responsible for men's lack of self control. I know that someone earlier said something about not making it hard for people who are trying to fight lust but you shouldn't dress like a nun just because you think the men around you are trying not to lust. 9999/1000 times men are not trying to control their lusts. Women are beautiful creatures and should not feel inhibited by men. This is really repetitive but this idea really irked me.

That was me. And if you had actually read the post i made you'd know that i specifically said, in two posts, that women should have a 'reasonable' manner of dress, as the bible says they should dress 'modestly'. I even referenced how muslim women dress and how i was NOT stating that women should dress like that. I specifically put that in there to avoid nutter trolls like you from twisting my words. But i forgot that that would mean someone would have to read all, and pay attention to, what i wrote. People seeking reasons to make a scene for attention don't actually take such time.
Your lack of attention to detail in an effort to throw a hissy fit reflects more on you, and the cheap shots you're taking trying to make someone else look bad. Read all of it, not just the parts you want.
Women are responsible for their choices. Just like men. This ignorant idea that one person is free from consequence, responsibility, obeying God, while the others are fully responsible... totally goes with what the bible teaches, right? Care to show me scripture that supports this concept?
And your '9999/1000' exaggerated claim, care to back that? Or do you have nothing better to support your tantrum than sensationalism?
By the way, 9999 + 1 = 10,000. So, because i read closely, what you said, i see that you're saying nearly 10,000 out of a 1,000 guys don't try to control their lusts. Brilliant call there.

Troll on, though. You have shown your inability to see what people say (as opposed to seeing what you want to see), that you have to use sensationalism to get your unfounded points across when you quote made up statistics, that you can't do simple math and a clear disregard for the bibles teachings on modesty, in favor of a more secular, feminist take that women never assume any responsibility whatsoever. In one post you've managed to discredit yourself fully.

Look I don't know what your problem is but if you were the person I mentioned in my post it was in no way meant to insult you it was just something that stuck out to me. But since you obviously have nothing better to do than lose your little childish temper over any little thing I don't know why I even bother with you. Calm down and get yourself together. And while your calming down you might want to find a therapist so you can work on your anger issues
