It's hard, cos i have gay friends, and some people are telling me i shouldn't be friends with them, but i still am because the whole point of friendship is to be true and help each other out. So i disapprove when they actually do the gay stuff, but everybody sins. And who am I to judge them anyway?

I know that homosexuality is wrong, but if no Christian will be their friends, how will they turn to God? Jesus was around prostitues, tax collectors and the ill. They need God just as bad as any one else does.

but still? Murder is wrong, but still I agree with it. Rape is totally wrong, but it's cool.

You sooo have a point,
May God please let her see what you mean & that even though "THEY THINK" they are in love its still wrong, It should be a man & a women otherwise God would have made a man after adam & not a woman. He din't he want adam to be with a man therfor he made eve a woman.

God should be our first love,
If a person knows its bad to be going out/lusting with a another person who is the same sex & does not stop then its either they dont care or its like they love/care about that person more than God Which is WRONG.
If you love a person more than God you can be sure you wont be blessed & MANY things will go wrong.

Can you be friends with Homosexuals because I have a good friend who is..?

I believe that Jesus loves everyone even the homosexual. He does not love the sin, neither should we. But He does love the person, as should we. I would also let the friend know that you are praying for them..... but turning them away as a friend?? Who are we to judge anyone?

God loves everyone unconditionally but what every one here is failing to notice is that in todays modern society homosexuality has became so popular and exposed to the point that you really dont care about it or whos doing it because we have all became so accustomed to it... but bacck then people were stoned and killed eg sodom and gammorah (dont kno if i spelt it correctly srry) god sent fire and every one there was killed.... God gave them a chance and showed them his mercy but no one wanted to change their ways.... I noticed someone said jesus hanged out with prostitutes etc... but these people begged God for his mercy upon their souls because they know what they are did was wrong and hurted him in the process they needed his mercy... but if a hommosexual does not change their ways they are still bound to go to hell. if you have a homosexual friend, you asked them to change thier ways come to christ but they still do not want to do it. the best thing you can do is pray for them and move on with your life because that person has to have thier own realationship with christ and want a change in their lif and if god see s that.. i am 100% that their will be a change

Of course you can. Unless they say that they follow Jesus. Then, you could still care for them, and talk to them, but you could not share friendship with them, not without participating in their sin. But someone being homosexual does not make them worthy of being shunned.

God bless,

I say this in this post friend.........GOD hates the sin but not the sinner!

I don't think there's anything wrong with homosexuality. I walk in the Gay Pride Parade every year.
Love has no gender.

Why do so many miss the point? Being gay is not something people choose to do so much as the degrading position God gives them over to for not giving Him the glory that is His due. Because they worshiped the creature, denied the attributes of God which are clearly seen in the creation itself. Futile in their speculations, darkened in their hearts, claiming to be wise while being fools, all things which are the actions of the enemies of God. And as a result God gave them over to degrading lusts. Not just men with men and women with women, but every other degrading sexual deviancy possible.

The problem is not in being gay, but why they are gay. If we can't see this, then we truly cannot see God as He is.

Love.

Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Love has nothing to do with sex or gender.

Its forgivable i think but there is no procreation, just sexual acts; I believe love could be possible but not actually a romantic type.

There was a thread argument broke out on before the crash.
I beleive it is a sin because it mentions several times in the bible that is is- ie Sodom and Gomorrah

But we have to know the bible better than those who argue it not otherwise in an argument against say a homosexual we have a slim chance of winning unless we know our own bible better than they know

It's not a contest. It's about letting people live their lives the way they want. It's about acceptance.

Im not gay but I think it's fine and it shouldnt even be a ****ing issue! our local vicar/priest person is actually gay. So yeah. And when some christians slate them and tell them theyre going to hell or whatever it gives all christians a bad close minded douchebag name. I dont really think anyones in any position to judge other people on there preferences over what Gods view of them will be. Alsooo it has been scientifically proven that there is a chemical in the gay persons brain which works a little differently, so it isnt a choice so im sure god'll understand ; ) so some people seriously need to lay off them. If the only people who wont "anger God" is perfect "sinless" *straight* people then i have a feeling heavens gonna be pretty close to empty.

I've pointed this out before, but it's really amazing that virtually everyone that comes onto this website and defends homosexuality are between the ages 15-25. Not only have they accepted the basic argument that homosexuality is good, but they've accepted the vitriolic rhetoric and name calling that the pro-homosexual crowed has packaged their position in.

Clearly, the older generation of Christians and the church has failed to do its job and as the the torch is passed onto the next generation we're going to have quite a mess on our hands. The arguments themselves are fairly simple to defeat, but the fact that they've adopted the emotionalism that the pro-homosexuals have attached to their position is what will make it so difficult.

And when some christians slate them and tell them theyre going to hell or whatever it gives all christians a bad close minded douchebag name.

So I guess the apostle Paul was a d-bag:

1 Corinthians 6:9–10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

But this sort of childish name calling (close minded d-bag) only begs the question anyway. If homosexuality is the sin that Christians and the Bible say it is and if a homosexual needs to recognize it as sin and repent, then warning the homosexual about his sin and the dangers of it is not being close minded or a d-bag. In fact, warning them and telling them they need to repent would be the loving thing to do.

I dont really think anyones in any position to judge other people on there preferences over what Gods view of them will be.

So what if someone prefers to rape people. Would you withhold any judgment on that? Do you think we don't know whether God approves of rape or not? Can we not tell a rapist that God hates rape and that the man needs to stop?

Now I've had this conversation a million times and I can predict with 90% accuracy the thought that has popped into your head "Homosexuality isn't rape! Homosexuals are consenting!" Right... that misses the point. That's a knee jerk emotional response that misunderstands the very purpose of analogy. The point is that the pious sounding "we aren't in a position to judge" spiel is really just a rhetorical ploy. The person who uses it doesn't think it applies to things they consider to be wrong (or sin) like rape, sexism, and murder... they only think it applies here because they don't think homosexuality is wrong. So the issue isn't whether we are in a position to judge, but whether homosexuality is wrong and we know that it is wrong.

Alsooo it has been scientifically proven that there is a chemical in the gay persons brain which works a little differently, so it isnt a choice

I'm afraid someone has lied to you on this issue. Here is a snippet from one of the latest articles published in a peer reviewed journal on the topic:

"In reading this literature [on the origins of sexual orientation], it is clear that personal bias and opinion have colored the presentation of scientific findings and their potential implications … Despite decades of research, the ultimate answer to the question posed in the title of this paper, 'Can anyone tell me why I'm gay?' is a resounding 'Not yet.' While there is some evidence to suggest physiological correlates ranging from genetic markers to structure and function of the brain, one can feel quickly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of contradictory findings on all of these fronts, and the news is no better, if not worse, for research concerning the role that familial and environmental factors play in the development of sexual orientation.

In reviewing this literature [on the origins of sexual orientation], several concerns emerge for this writer: 1) sample representativeness is problematic when researching issues as socially charged as sexual orientation, 2) the ethical considerations that must be made in human research often result in correlative data which makes causative inference problematic… 5) there seems to be an increasing focus on physiological mechanisms of origin for sexual orientation without regard for the role that familial/social/cultural environments may play in the process. " (280, 288-289).

Jenkins, William. "Can Anyone Tell Me Why I'm Gay? What Research Suggests Regarding the Origins of Sexual Orientation." North American Journal of Psychology 12.2 (2010): 279-296.

If the only people who wont "anger God" is perfect "sinless" *straight* people then i have a feeling heavens gonna be pretty close to empty.

In a sense you're right that it takes perfect sinlessness to avoid the wrath of God. Which is why the only persons who wont anger God are those who are covered in the perfect, sinless blood of Jesus Christ. Those who are saved by grace through faith. But "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" (Romans 6:1-2)

NO COMMENT, JUST READ ,ROMANS CH.1:18===32.
If we read that passage written by Paul, we find that homosexuality is the result of God turning over a person who worships things other than Himself to the completely degrading lusts of the flesh.

The point being that to Paul, there was not many worse fates in this life than being turned over to these vile lusts, burning in lust after perversions.

But the real problem the person so afflicted has is that they refuse to believe God, even though the evidence is plain before their eyes.

My roommate is gay. I love him with all my heart. I'm straight obviously but my girlfriend and I have had many double dates with him and his boyfriend. I don't see anything wrong with homosexuality, at all. As long as you're in a committed relationship. I've been taking an Old Testament class and reading different translations of many of the passages condemning homosexuality and in different translations, it appears they are condemning separate sins. So, I feel that God would want us to use our better judgment on the issue. Respect people and don't say they can't be Christians just b/c of who they are born to be attracted to. Just my opinion. No haters please =P

Most young people will appeal to this sort of anecdotal evidence as a contributing factor to their view of homosexuality. They know a homosexual and they think he/she is a nice guy. They become friends and find out that the homosexual is even pretty cool. Then the thought process works like this: it starts off "Homosexuals aren't as bad as I thought they were" and ends up like this "Homosexuality isn't as bad as I thought it was."

I'm not saying that this is *your* thought process in particular (but what other value do you think the anecdote has?). Really the fact that a homosexual can be witty, funny, nice, etc. shouldn't be surprising and is irrelevant to homosexuality being a sin. One of my family members has spent a number of years in prison for crimes that would scare some people and make other people think they are "dangerous" and "mean."

But if you were to meet this person, knowing nothing about their history, you would think they are funny, have a great sense of humor, and is very generous. Indeed, this family member *IS* funny, does have a great sense of humor, and is generous. I would describe this person as being nice and fun to be around, and often the life of the party. Does this mean that this person's crimes were not as bad as I thought or as serious as I thought? Of course not! It would be silly for me to take one characteristic that this person shows towards me, their family member, and use that to judge the person's other actions (and action towards other persons).

I'm sure we can find any sort of horrendous criminal and also find a charming person once we get to know them (consider the BTK serial killer). Clearly, any anecdote of being friends with such a person is irrelevant.

I've been taking an Old Testament class and reading different translations of many of the passages condemning homosexuality and in different translations, it appears they are condemning separate sins.

I'm not sure what passages you have in mind, but I am aware of how some people have tried to twist Scripture and make it say that it isn't condemning homosexuality. There are responses to all of those attempts to twist Scripture. Nevertheless, Scripture is sufficiently clear in its condemnation of homosexuality and the attempt to make homosexuality acceptable among Christianity is a recent invention. For example:

Postbiblical Judaism stressed the homosexual element in the Sodomites’ attempted rape of Lot’s male guests (Gen. 19:4-5; cf. Judg. 19:22), and Hellenistic Jewish writers denounced homosexuality as frequently as any sin… The Greek word arsenokoitai in 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:10, denoting literally (males) 'who lie [sleep] with males,' was almost certainly formed under the influence of the Septuagint text of Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. Although first attested in Paul, the term also occurs in Hellenistic Jewish texts (Sibyll. Or. 2.73, influenced by Pseudo-Phocylides’s Sentences). The church fathers universally condemned male homosexual behavior… They [the church fathers] clearly regarded it as contrary to the created constitution and function of men and women, and not merely to the dispositions of particular individuals."

(Encyclopedia of Early Christianity. 542-543)

And:

"...it is only in recent times that some writers have argued that the quality of a relationship, be it homosexual or heterosexual, is what determines its moral value"

(The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church. 786)

Obviously the attempt for Christians to accept homosexuality is a recent phenomena of our modern culture. As I've explained several times on this website in various threads about this topic, our moral attitudes can be greatly affected by cultural upbringing. Consider that the death penalty was once deemed acceptable punishment for forgery. Not only would most people be intellectually repulsed by that, but their moral sentiments (emotions) would be repulsed by that. What accounts for the different moral sentiment? Clearly it's not a purely rational process, since virtually no one today has gone through a rational process of determining the proper punishment for forgery. Rather it's most cultural conditioning. Over time we have adopted the general ethic that only things like murder deserve the death penalty and even that only on certain occasions.

The fact that the vast majority, even almost exclusively so, of the people on this website who defend homosexuality are young adults is evidence of this cultural conditioning. Our affections can be dulled by the impression that the offender is "such a nice person" and by the surrounding culture and our public education, which drill it into our heads that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. A lot of Christians who have grown up in this culture have accepted the ethics and affections of the culture.

So, I feel that God would want us to use our better judgment on the issue.

I think God would want us to follow his Word on the issue.

Respect people and don't say they can't be Christians just b/c of who they are born to be attracted to.

I can respect a person while telling them that their homosexuality is wrong. Same as I can respect a rapist while telling him that his actions are wrong, seriously wrong, and that he needs to change his ways.

A homosexual can be a Christian just like a rapist or an adulterer or a pedophile or an alcoholic can be a Christian. Namely, the can be a Christian by *repenting* and believing on Jesus Christ and then continuing to grow in sanctification (struggling against their sin, the precondition to which would be recognize that it is sin).

And to speak of "who they are born to be attracted to" assumes something that has yet to be prove, as I already demonstrated above.

Just my opinion. No haters please =P

I'm not sure what would constitute a "hater," but I think you're promoting some errors here and these errors need to be responded to. I don't think that constitutes "hate", rather it's my love. It's my love for the truth and it's my love for persons who I don't want to be deceived by falsehoods.
