Hi, i'm a 14 year old girl named Amber and I'm having some issues. I am overweight for my age and height and I'm trying my hardest to lose the weight, but it makes it harder when your own parents don't even believe in you. I can't even eat a sandwich without them judging me about my weight or my portions. To add on, I already have kids at school who chime in saying that I'm chubby or fat. I do my best to ignore them, but sometimes my best just isn't good enough. My other family members say its just "tough" love or they say "they care", but what they don't understand is that it's hard to hear your parents call you things like that and they're supposed to love you. I cry at the fact that I try to be the daughter they want, but in they're eyes it's never good enough. I'm always trying to please everyone else and I never get happiness. Just for once in my life I want to be able to live without being afraid of people talking about me every time I turn my head. One time I even thought about committing suicide, but I don't want to have to come to that. So can anyone please help me?

Hey little sister.....I usually don't interrupt this forum.......but I have something to tell you......I too struggled with my weight at your age......I know just how you feel.....and my oldest daughter....she did too.......people think by constantly reminding you of your struggles .....that it will help you.......(As if we need reminding.....)....do you want to know how both my daughter and i lost 100 lbs each......Of course you do......we gave it to God.....then I signed up for softball.....I wasn't very good at first.....but I tried my best.....and I became a great player....I made friends .....and best of all.....when I wasn't looking.......I lost all the weight......your focusing on the bad.......focus on what you can do each dayto work towards your goal......when people were getting to me......I would walk away and sweep the porch...as hard as I could...or I went for a walk......being active is a sure way to gain confidence and start to likingyourself........the thing I tell myself over and over......if you move it .....you lose it.....pm me if you feel low..I would like to help you ......peace and love young one......jo

Hi Amber
wow its sux what ur going thru. Itz rubbish when people say oh just ignore them or dw abt it coz...how can u ignore it when people r in ur face and its so personal. Surround yourself w people who like u and stay away from ...well we have a name for awful people in australia but I better not say it here. N if your ready to attack your prob - n hey u might be ready to n if ur not well..... u will when ur ready. But when ur ready n u wanna attack ur weight then again just surround urself with people who will help - n I mean help not sympathise - so help u..no make u do the extra exercise n help u do a healthy diet. But thats all hard so u gotta b ready for it. I had probs of a different kind n this kinda strategy helped for me.... anywayz just my thoughts Amber tc

Hi Amber, firstly, I'm sorry about your friends treating you that way but about your parents I think that they say it for your well being because I have seen parents do that. If you don't like it, you can talk to them about it and they would understand. Maybe your parents don't realize how it hurts you when they judge you while your eating a sandwich or something similar? Talk to them and I'm sure they will support you.

I was never overweight, but I had a bit of a tummy when I was 11 or 12 lol, and I got rid of my tummy just by being active everyday with basic physical activities and I only sat down in one place to study or read the Bible or to read some other books. Now I workout each day to remain fit. Here's my advice - First get a strong relationship with God, I'm not sure about your relationship with Him. Then tell God your problems, about what your friends tell you and about your parents and about your weight. Dont get me wrong, don't just make your relationship stronger with God only to lose weight. Show God how much you love him and spend time with him more than anything else.

Now, you need to control the calorie intake. I would suggest that you split your meals. Instead of three meals a day, split them to 5 or 6 meals, keep a time period of 2-3 hours between each meal. Each meal should consist of about 200-300 calories depending upon your daily activities. Exercises should be done as well, cardio exercises are really good and easy. Fitness Blender is a good channel on youtube that can help you with the workouts. Proteins, carbohydrates and fats should be taken in at equal proportion for each meals. Meat, vegetables, organic food, fruits, green tea, citrus fruits should be taken and avoid junk foods or limit them to once a week. Celery can help you lose a lot of weight because your body requires more energy than what the celery provides to digest the celery, so your body uses the stored fat to fulfill those energy needs. Celery isn't delicious, so I would suggest to have some low fat sauce with it.

Don't be sad or depressed about what others tell you. Jesus loves you, we all do love you too. I won't care what your weight is, your still an amazing person. Many overweight women have got over it Amber, you being a child of God can definitely do it as well. :)

Feel free to pm me if you need any help, welcome to CC and Gold bless you! :)

He Amber!

Welcome to the site :) I really hope you'll have a lot of usefull answers in a while :) (You already have :D)
First, do you know how the overweight has developed itself? How many times do you eat a day? And what do eat?
Maybe it helps to write things down; write everything down what you eat, so you will get some clarity!

I don't know if it's possible in your situation, but it would be great if you could join a sportclub! Sporting is nice, you'll get friends and it will help you to stay and feel healthy!

Sometimes people think that dieting is the only option; that isn't true! Luckily there are many healthy snacks like raisins, apples, toasted broad or bananas! Make from your snacks a special thing! What also may help is a good breakfast; if you'll eat in the morning things like oatmeal, you'll be not-hungry for the rest of the morning :D
At dinner you can try to take one portion, maybe.

I'll pray for you, that God will help you in this, I believe you can do it Amber!
And, I'm not the only one (look at the posts above ^ :))

God Bless,
Channa
