just dont be offended, im here b/c i need help...please?


i love japense, chinese, and korean music. but..lately... a sister in Christ has told me that is ..well...not good for the soul to listen to, b/c it upsets the Holy Spirit.
So, is it?

I understand the Lord gave us ears to listen and enjoy what we can do, music, and just let our emotions feel it. As long as it does not become a sin. The thing is, i am not attracted to American nor Latin music that much, i am much more attracted to Asian... the reason being is because it does not contain sex and things like that. I dont listen to religous asian music, but i listen to the top artist, like a japense nickleback and chinese taylor swift. But, how far is too far when i want to listen to those cultures? any help brothers and sisters? please don't throw mean remarks...for a reason i am here, God is telling me something, and I need my family to help me!

I'd be interested in knowing where it says that listening to Japanese, Chinese and Korean music upsets the Holy Spirit.

If you enjoy listening to that kind of music and it doesn't affect your walk with God, by all means, continue. You said it doesn't contain sex and things like that. You're not listening to religious Asian music. I'm not sure where the harm is. What do I mean by affect your walk with God?

Does the music make you want to worship other gods or bow down to idols? Do you find yourself in bitterness of spirit after listening to the music? Do you have feelings of anger, lust, envy, or pride from listening to it? Do you feel an urge to disrespect your parents, to spread gossip, to hold a grudge, take revenge, hate another in your heart, be judgmental about another person's salvation? Does the music call you to be greedy, selfish, hateful, etc?

Not everything that isn't church music is sinful or grieves the Holy Spirit.

Maybe she feels this way because some people might not know what the songs lyrics are (don't understand the language). Ya know. You think the song is beautiful, then you use a tool to translate and its about getting cash and boys.
Some people used to think that [songs] in different languages were from the Devil, and if you playback a (certain) record, you can hear Satan speaking.
I don't think there is anything wrong or sinful about listening to music in other languages. So as longs as you know that the content of the song is okay that's fine.

Thank you brother. I just don't want my friendship to end with my sister in Christ.
And no, none of that which you said makes me go against the Lord.
On the contrary, is very, inspiring, remembering, and lifts me up when i am down (by no means does it mean i rely on the music to lift up, i go to Jesus who is my Saviour and Friend)

yes, b/c i search for the meanings of each song i listen, and when i read what they say...it's just so wonderful. there's one that is a rap to thank every single family member, that brings me to tears, b/c i have never heard of music wanting to encourage to alwats Love your family! i was shaken when my sister in Christ told me to leave such music, and..right now she is very distant from me.

Some months ago i took the decision of listening only to christian music. I actually feel great about it. Lucifer is the best musician on Earth, since he was in charge of worshiping and music in heaven, and his skills come directly from God. Remember that God doesn't take away the talents he gives, so Lucifer kept his musical talents when he was kicked out of heaven. That's why, if it's not meant to worship God, any other type of music just keeps you away from Him. Lucifer will use apparently harmless music to make you think of God every time less and less, without making you feel guilty about it.

Jap/chi/kor music come from Asia (duh! lol), in a region where roughly 2% of the population are christians. That, to me, is the reason why you shouldn't listen to that kinda music. If it's not FOR God, it will take you away from Him.

personally I only listen to Christian or clean music, I dont need songs with cussing or talking about drugs or sex playing. It is a form of entertainment but garbage in, garbage out. you listen to songs that cuss, you are more likely to cuss.
as for the topic, the Japanese music, I have some that a friend gave me, I like the beats and stuff but I have no clue what they are singing about and since I dont know what they are saying it is pretty much just listening to gibberish! lol

i only like music done by people like r.e.m bon jovi nightwish evanensce poets of the fall and great big sea as for asian music its pretty random i watch alot of animes and i find the bands who doine the opening and closeing for that anime :p

can i give an example of the lyrics i listen to?

i learn the translation of them, and..well... they really get to me (if i am not suppose to post lyrics, i hope admins delete this)

well not actual lyrics but a sum of it:

now this... reminds of Jesus... i understand that the post of one of your previous poster said that asia is 2% christian, i know. but... is this harming me?
are this lyrics really harming me? i used to be an anime addict, but as i got closer to God, God took me away by me getting much more interested in Him.

I first pay attention at the lyrics, to see if they are harmful to me,
i don't see the harm here. like native american, sheesh...how is that?
yeah..worship to gods..but..is culture, and do not separate me from God.
another thing, God will take me away from it, i am willing. But i still like it. Like anime again, i still like it
but i am not interested in it, SINCE God and i got closer. Anger too, He knows that's a serious problem.
and my sister in Christ knows it, that THAT is my problem. not the music. only b/c they are asian are we to separate from them? we are embassadors, that means, we must live among this world
and WE WILL like things from here. But we got a mission, to reach for Jesus. Why should i separate from this music when i can understand the asians better? i can say to them "this is awesome, but you know? there's something much better." My family is sorounded with music, to lift us up, move, clean, get happy instead of angry. And God has blessed me with this third language...i can't be helpful enough!
