As I am growing my relationship with God, one of the things I actually find difficult is praying. As weird as it may sound, I feel as though I don't know what to pray sometimes.... If something is on my mind, I have no problem; but, when I don't really have anything specific on my mind, I just sometimes feel "at loss for words" when I bow down to pray. I hear about Christians who have a great prayer life, and I know how God can work through you in prayer..... But I just feel like I can't pray that long! I tend to over think things, and I guess this is one of those things.... I feel like I'm the only one who has this struggle.

Start with, Dear Farther, I love you

Next, repent for any sins

Then, talk to Him like you'd talk to your best friend

End with, in Jesus' name amen.

Hi Schnitzel! You might be surprised to learn that a lot of Christians have a hard time praying. Lets face it, it is hard to look into our hearts and see how messy they are. If you are making time to pray that is great, and you've won half the battle. When I pray sometimes nothing comes to mind that I or my friends need, so I look farther out, pray for our leaders in the world today, pray for mercy on lost souls, more than half of my prayers seem to be for people that I don't know, people that are worse off than I am. when an ambulance passes, I pray for the hurt person and their family, when I pass someone in the street that looks like they are having a bad day, I pray for their salvation or growth in God. You needn't pray for yourself or family and friends, think about all the people that you talked to in the day and pray that they would truly see who God is, that he would help and comfort them. Sometimes it helps to write your prayer down as you are praying, in a prayer journal or something.

These are just a few things that I do that I find helpful. God bless you!

Same here. I constantly have thoughts throughout the day and a lot are directed to God. I usually tell myself "Well God already knows what I'm thinking. I don't need to really say these things to Him." Him knowing our thoughts and us talking to Him are completely different, though. It sucks cause I always know what I want to say in my head, but never know how to say it.

hello! i started off by having a prayer journal. the reason i would do this is because i found myself getting easily distracted while praying. writing it all down helped me keep focused. one thought would lead to another in a beautiful flow. sometimes, that wouldn't happen. i would just write down whatever came to mind :)

now, i set a time during my lunch break since i have a 2 hr lunch. at first, it felt like i ran out of things to say, but as the days passed, more and more would flow. i literally talk about everything lol :D and what's awesome is God doesn't find us boring! :D He cares about what we share with Him.

what helped me when i ran out of things to say - i watched the news. a lot of stuff is happening in the world.

I tend to only pray when something goes wrong, then it's "Please, God please.." I've always had problems praying especially out loud, even though I DO talk to myself out loud all day every day anyways..lol.. I feel like if I pray silently, then he doesn't hear or it's not as effective.. Same with reading my bible. I rarely do, and when I DO read it, I never know where to begin to read, and my mind is on a dozen other things so it's difficult to concentrate..

Pray with a mind and heart of thanksgiving. It doesn't have to be long or involved. Pray for heavenly mindedness, so that you may know the things God wishes to communicate to you by His word as you study scripture, so you can gain understanding. How do you do the will of God in your life? You find out what God is doing and you do that.

Hi, :) praying to God is a wonderful experience if you get the gist of it. Although it ma be hard at times to start and talk to God, it's not very difficult. You can start of by thanking God for how much he loves you, how merciful and loving he is. Then remember all the wonderful things he has done for you and how great he is. AFTER JUST TALK TO HIM, HE IS THERE LISTENING. Just talk to him like he is you're friend, he is. You can ask him for protection, guidance, forgiveness and you can ask him to even make you a better person. Ask him to make you see his love, ask him to help you on the Christian journey and ask him to use you to his advantage. JUST PRAY AND TALK TO GOD,HE LOVES YOU VERY MUCH. :)
