Hi,
I am a christian group leader within my school , being an all boy school we face certain challenges more than other schools and pornographic addiction is found among the majority of the senior boys. Questions are asked regarding this such as is masturbation wrong is it only the act of lust that is wrong ? Also lusting at Hentai (basically naked cartoons of woman in a Japanese anime style) is that a sin as you are not actually lusting the flesh but a drawn picture?
Sorry if this breaks any of the sites rules but its a situation i feel needs to be addressed within my school and i would appreciate any feedback the community can give also please have a bible verse or something backing up your argument as the bible doesn't lie but the opinion of a human can often be wrong.

Lust is a sin, whether it's lust of the flesh, lust of food, lust of your best friend's possessions or girlfriend, etc. Yes, looking at pictures of naked women (even anime) is sinful because it causes you to lust, which in turn causes you to masturbate.. The act of masturbating is not sinful, but the act of lusting and/ or looking at porn IS sinful because it causes you to stumble and sin.

Try Ecclesiastes 2:1-11; 1 John 2:15-16; 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-5 (this one leads me to believe that masturbation is a sin); Colossians 3:5; and maybe Proverbs 6:25 though it doesn't have a ton of context.

I'd write them out for you but I think it's best for you to look them up to have an idea of the context. ;) Hope this helps!

I have a feww here too : p

Cor 6:18

Matthew 5:28

Ephesians 5:5

Cor 7:2

Peter 2:11

Timothy 2:22

Galatians 5:19

Mark 7:20-23

Theres verses all mention things about passions of the flesh, sensuality, lust and sexual immorality. They do not point their finger directly at masturbation, and I know that alot of people will use that to defend their stance ("it doesnt say masturbation is a sin though"), but we are told to guard ourselves from these things. When we give into the physical temptation, we always open our hearts to impure thoughts. Its entirely connected, and it leads us to follow out impure thoughts. Its definitely clear in the bible to avoid and abstain from these things, in order to allow impure thoughts into our hearts and be lead astray.

Hope that helps.

Its not a sin to be tempted but to give into temptation. everyone who says that lusting is a SIN is wrong ihn my eyes. Its only a sin if you give into the lust. it all is fine unless it becomes imprisoning if its masturbation food or whatever. Porn is a nogo simply because of the fact that it brings the enemy to you and can possibly demonize you in some areas of your life and if your honest to yourself you know it will not do you any good even if you arent addicted. I dont like it how people here are tellig you lust is a sin. WE ARE NO SEXLESS BEINGS! hey god made us that way that we search for a partner.
When God made us he also made sex and he said what he did and saw is good. so sex is a part of it!

Be careful Demi777, you are going against God to say that lust is not a sin. God has told us that sinning in our mind is the same as doing it.(Wish I could remember where the verse is)
The lust is what leads to the action, and although we are all subject to the pull of lust, we are encouraged to turn immediately away from it, for the obvious reason. Whether we partner up with a person or just skip from one encounter to another, sex is sin unless done within the confines of marriage. Sex is a pleasure, but getting pleasure outside the boundaries set by God is not condoned and we should exercise will power to avoid it's lure. These days are forecast in 2 Timothy 3:1-9.

The verse I was thinking of in post #7 is Matthew 5:28. It is dealing specifically with adultery, but if you can lust after a married woman and be doing it, then it makes sense that if you lust after any woman you are doing it with her, and this would go for a drawing as well. I will add Colossians 3:5 and 1 John 2:16 to this view. As far as lust for pictures, God was describing Samaria and Jerusalem as prostitutes and described one as lusting for men who were depicted on a wall in Ezekiel 23:14-16.
