The following is from their own website.

What they are basically saying is that the bible is not good enough for them,
so they came up with some clap trap and made it say what they wanted it
to say. My comments in bold. Their's is a religion of works, do your best
and you won't get ex communicated/thrown out of the temple and you
might just make it back to heaven. But their best is based on what their
priests and elders tell them is their best.

Ps sorry for the different fonts, tried to change them but couldn't.

------

Before we were born, we existed in spirit as sons and daughters of heavenly parents.
We were loved, we were taught, and we were given the opportunity to grow and reach
a greater potential.

(Refuted in Genesis 1-3)

Heavenly Father set forth a plan: He would create an earth where we would live away
from His presence for a time. We would gain a physical body. We would experience
both joy and sorrow, and we would make choices that would shape our eternal character.
This time on earth is both a classroom and a test, and only we can determine how well
we perform. The goal of our earthly test is to return to our Heavenly Father as a more
intelligent, more mature, and more compassionate being—to be more like Him.

Refuted in Genesis 1-3)

The Bible was written by and focused on the people who lived
in and around Israel, spanning the time from the Creation of the
world until shortly after the Resurrectionof Jesus Christ. Like the
Bible, the Book of Mormon is an ancient record of God’s teachings
to His people, but it was written by prophets in America.

(Refuted in Revelations)
Revelation 22:18-19 NKJV

[18] For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:
If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written
in this book; [19] and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city,
and from the things which are written in this book.

Joseph Smith spoke with God, received revelation from Him, revealed and
translated an ancient religious record called the Book of Mormon, and led
the early members of the Church across the plains to seek freedom from the
religious persecutions of the day. Nearly 200 years have passed since Joseph
Smith’s calling, and the restored Church of Jesus Christ has grown to 15 million
members around the world. A considerable work has since been done that
could not have been accomplished without the restored keys of the
priesthood and divine guidance.

(Refuted as above, they continue to tweak their Book of Mormon to
fit what they want it to say).

And that is precisely what Joseph Smith’s successors have done, constituting
an unbroken line of priesthood authority to this day. President Thomas
S. Monson now holds this office as President of the Church, and he is
assisted by two counselors and by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles–who
perform a function similar to the Apostles Jesus Christ called in His day.
Together, these 15 inspired priesthood holders are sustained as “prophets,
seers, and revelators,” though only President Monson receives revelation
for the entire Church. Like their ancient predecessors, these men testify of
Jesus Christ and they teach His gospel.

Matthew 7:15 NKJV

[15] "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly
they are ravenous wolves.

In Hebrews 9:23 he tells us that the Levitical priesthood had to exist in great
numbers. This was because they grew old and died and had to be continually
replaced by other fallible priests. When they died they could no longer
intercede on our behalf.

But what about Jesus? He says about Jesus that God the Father declared Him
a priest forever, not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, meaning
of the tribe of Levite, but due to Jesus’ power of a life that is indestructible
(7:16). The word in the Greek is
zwh'"[SUP]52[/SUP] ajkataluvto"[SUP]104[/SUP] (Zoes Akatalutos)
meaning Life indissoluble, indestructible. In other words the Levitical
Priesthood was done away with and Jesus was made our only and final
High Priest forever in their place because His life is indestructible and
will never pass away
. Jesus will never need to be replaced. Because He
will never die He is able also to intercede before the Father on our behalf
forever. There will never be a time when we will need another High Priest
to replace Jesus.

There are some religious sects in the world which claim that Jesus later renewed
the Levitical Priesthood. This is wrong and in error. It is wrong and in error because
the reason that the Levitical priesthood existed was for the purpose of offering
sacrifices for our sins and to intercede for us. These two needs of their service
were eliminated for the following reasons:

  • First, because Jesus’ death took care of all our sins past, present and future forever. He eliminated any further need of sacrifices for our sins.
  • Second, When God the Father appointed Jesus our new High Priest, He appointed Him our High Priest forever. This is because He will never die and thus will never need to be replaced like in the old Levitical system of priests.
  • Third, because He lives forever he is able to intercede on our behalf before the Father forever; thus, eliminating the need for replacement intercessors as in the Levitical order who were constantly dying of old age. The job of the Levitical Priesthood was eliminated due to the indestructible life of Jesus who fulfills their services forever.

In addition, in over 4,600 family history centers operated by The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world, the
fabric of humanity is being woven together through formal record
keeping of important dates and other information about those who
have died; these records are communally stored and publicly
accessible.
The records also allow Church members to identify their deceased
ancestors so they can perform ordinances for them in the temple,
a holy place where worthy Mormons make sacred commitments to
God and perform sacred acts, such as baptism, by proxy for the dead.
These ordinances on behalf of the deceased allow those who were
unable to perform these earthly rites for themselves to receive them in the afterlife.

The temple helps us understand God’s expectations for His children from an
eternal perspective. It is in the temple that husbands, wives, and children are
sealed so that they will remain a family even after this life. Baptisms are
performed for ancestors to give deceased relatives the opportunity to accept
blessings of eternity and family as well. It is this desire for united, never-ending
relationships with loved ones and with God that draws people to the temple and
its eternal, binding promises.

Hebrews 9:27 NKJV
[27] And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

To enter the hallowed walls of the temple, faithful Church members obtain a
temple “recommend” by affirming their personal worthiness in biannual
ecclesiastical interviews with the leader of their congregation.

It is not up to people to decide who is holy enough to enter the presence
of God! The above is just so wrong.

John 3:16 NKJV
[16] For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Wondering what you guys think about this. I have a few Mormon acquaintances that I dearly love, and I'm just curious about the legitimacy of the actual Book that they incorporate into their walks with God.
Is the book of mormon legit, I know all about mormonism. Yeah I got right into their love cult. No mormon really follows Joseph Smiths beliefs, otherwise they'd all be polygamists. Oh he was one character I'll tell you that, and the book of mormon sounds like it's been written by a child. Be careful of there meets and greets, they will love bomb you.

It is not just for the men. (read my post a couple pages back). Its beyond a bit crazy. ;)

The Holy undergarments are enough to put most people off joining I would think. They keep quiet about that aspect during their recruiting though. I have heard that they never take them off!! Imaging the stink. I think it only applies to Men though.
