I think I'm going to wait until I leave school and get a job and then bring it up with her
I think that is a mature and godly decision. :) God bless you.

I wonder what happens to the girl. Pregnant, couple of months later, a new born baby is on the way. The baby will either be adopted or raised by single parent or even abandon. Very sad indeed:mad:

This might be really crazy but I want to propose to my girlfriend. We've been together for over a year and we had a child 2 months ago. That's given us so much responsibility you know and we both want to become better people for our child so we can raise him to hopefully not make the same mistakes that we did. I can't see me having a future without her by my side. Proposing to her may be taking things too fast but we truly love each other. Honestly my son makes me feel like the proudest Father and she'd make me feel like the proudest husband. God gave us a child to make us into better people together and I want that so bad. I would like some Christian voices to talk me out of this if it really is that insane but have you ever felt so strongly that something is the right thing to do that it's always on your mind? That's how I feel about this. But I also don't want to propose and then be rejected and not be able to see my son as much. I really think that we could make this a good, happy Christian family.
Don't listen to them, you do what God tells you and you'll be alright.

I'm not forbidding marriage but if you read scripture real carefully especially 1 Corithians 7 the whole chapter and not just the first few verses it may not even be necessary. God says who He joins together let no one separate. And in a marriage the priest says if anyone knows any reason why these two should not be together speak now and it is OK for you to try to separate them if you think you should not in those words of course. I guess what I'm saying is that there are more false prophets and teachers in the world than many professing Christians want to believe it seems to me sometimes. I myself wouldn't be in any rush and I would learn from God.

No,Im sorry,I disagree. Marriage is a commitment before God and it is important. Sleeping with someone doesn't magically make you married. It takes work, commitment and maturity. Just not good advice at all.

To the OP you now have made a decision that will effect the rest of your life. You're a father. I hope you take that commitment very seriously because God does. As far as marriage you are very young. My advice would be that you both begin counseling either by your pastor or a Christian counselor before you take the step of marriage. You're both very immature and you're going to have to grow up quickly. Surround yourself with good strong adults and learn as much as you can about parenting. You are now taking on adult responsibilities. Be very careful of the decisions you make.Your child is counting on you.

Christ Himself said that the children of this world marry, but those worthy of eternal life neither marry or are giving in marriage. I know many may disagree with me espeallily people who are married, but you can't ignore scriptures like Luke 20: 34-35.

Plus if your pastor is anything like the ones around where I live they are preaching a false gospel that will cut you off from Christ.

Ok you can't take a verse in the Bible and make a doctrine of it. You didn't post the verses before it.

ome of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. 28“Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 29Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless.30The second 31and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. 32Finally, the woman died too. 33Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”34Jesus replied, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, 36and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.37But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’[SUP]b[/SUP] 38He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”39Some of the teachers of the law responded, “Well said, teacher!” 40And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Jesus was talking about the future. The Sadducees were trying to trap Jesus about the resurrection, Jesus is not saying not to marry. The Bible talks about marriage throughout it .Again, one verse does not make a doctrine. You are mistaken in your belief.

I disagree when scripture talks about the children of this age it is referring to people who share the same charictestics as the devil and or out in pursuit of the pleasures of this world.
If people are married they shouldn't divorce. Like I said many may disagree with me.

I wrote this post not to tell him to rush off and marriage isn't needed. I said it may not be needed. I wrote this because we Christians need to understand 1 Corinthians 7 completely and not just the first few verses. We are not to look at what others are doing but we are to learn from God. This is a very serious matter and we must understand completely what God is saying because there are serious consequences involved.

You're entitled to believe as you wish but the in verses you are talking about Jesus is speaking of the future. "And they can no longer die" makes that clear. People shouldn't divorce but they do. And a 16yr old is too young and immature to understand the commitment marriage takes. He and his gf need serious premarital counseling if he plans on going the marriage route. But marriage is definitely Biblical.

The KJV doesn't say they will neither it just says they neither marry. I'm talking about something very deep in scripture. I'm talking about how serious a matter it is for a women to be bound to the law until her husband dies and how Christ died for us to free us of from the law. Please I know everyone has their opinions but do not accuse me of speaking falsely because every thing I'm talking about is in scripture.

The Scripture you pointed out is not saying what you are saying. I simply pointed that out. When God made Adam He then made Eve as a help meet and said it was good that man wasn't alone and He set the foundation for the family unit. Marriage is sacred, the family is sacred, that is why homosexual marriage is wrong. It goes against the sacredness of marriage and the family.

I didn't say it wasn't sacred. Im saying we must read and understand everything God says about marriage because it is serious. No one wants to be bound to the law. Christ had a reason for telling us that the children of this world marry and we are not supposed to just conjure up the reason why He said it, but we are to understand the truth of why He said it. I'm finished with this thread. No offence I didn't mean to offend anyone but this is a topic that that many distort and it is a very serious matter in Christianity.

I'm not sure this is helpful to the OP anymore. There was a post earlier where he seemed to have made up his mind, and I think any of this now is just confusion.
