Are you guys all sure that all the bands listed here are good? Do you think God likes screaming, pig squealing, chugging, mosh pits, break downs, growling, and things alike that our found in this music? As well as all the tattoos that band members have? I used to listen to some bands that are listed here, but now I have a different view on all of these. I'm honestly confused. Does Jesus approve of Metal? Since not just Jesus went into Jesus-core. I'm sure it was death-core, hard-core, metal-core, death metal, that sparked this genre. Is satan trying to make you believe that all of this is good, and in the end he will have your soul?

One preacher said: Every time you listen, watch, or do something, think if you could share this with the whole church.

Just my 2 cents.

not to be mean but there are other threads with PAGES of posts debating this.
can we just have this one for us? to discuss our fav music and not be bashed and hated on about it.
cuz the TRUE thing about a Christian is their relationship with God, and as long as we put Him first it doesnt matter what kind of music we listen to. the most disgusting sinner could listen to nothing but hymns and it would not matter. I am sure if this music isnt of God then He will personally let us know in our hearts.
sorry i kinda just went off but I have been seeing too much stuff judging this kind of music lately and its kinda getting off the main point of Christianity, Jesus.

Alright, sorry. I'm new here, and not very well accustomed. Could you direct me to a thread then, where I could find the answer to my question?

I can't lie, I do enjoy this type of music, but I started to feel the "wrong" feeling.

p.s. A lot of these bands don't qualify as christian. Norma Jean says they are "Rock / Metal / Hardcore" on their myspace.

here are just a few of many threads about this topic (I hope they work!)

just cuz a band says they are not Christian does not mean it isnt made up of Christian people.
They do not put a Christian label on their music, cuz then it discourages the non-Christians to listen to it, therefore they are not spreading the word as effectively as they could be. by getting thier music into the hands of non-Christians they are planting more seeds.

I used to love Norma Jean, The Chariot, Underoath, etc. Actually, I was listening to them before I was even Christian. I don't listen to them all that often anymore, I sort of "grew out" of metal and hardcore. Not that they are juvenile or anything, just for me they stopped being enjoyable. Though I do still listen to that type of music from time to time, just not as often like I used to.

The Chariot is a great band, though. Joshua Scoggins, the old lead singer of Norma Jean, formed the band. Another really amazing Christian band is "Before there Was Rosalyn."

Those are my two favourite BTWR songs. Very good, very powerful lyrics.

Christian hardcore is no less 'appropriate' than any other genre of Christian music... It's just the way some of us express our selves. My parents had a really hard time understanding how the brutal music and hardcore dancing at shows and all of that could be Christian... But it comes down to it being a personal form of worship.

Bands like For Today, The Great Commission, Impending Doom, Sleeping Giant, August Burns Red, In the MIdst of Lions, and soooo many more can fill the room with just as much Holy Spirit as bands like Third Day or Casting Crowns.

Some good bands to check out:
The Chariot
In the Midst of Lions
Oh, Sleeper
Before There Was Rosalyn
For Today
Impending Doom
The Devil Wears Prada
Blessed by a Broken Heart
Maylen and the Sons of Disaster
We Came as Romans (not a 'Christian' band, but there lyrics are Christian, without a doubt!)
August Burns Red
Sleeping Giant
The Gun Show
As Hell Retreats
Hundredth
Continuance
War of Ages
As I Lay Dying
The Blood Reckoning
Alcina
Thaddeus
Forever is Today
The Overseer
The Sevnth Star
Inhale Exhale
A Hero Remains
Norma Jean
Show the Fight!

and soooooooooooooo many more!

I agree with every bit of that except J-Scoggs being in Norma Jean... He was with LutaKriss, which split and formed Norma Jean and The Chariot.

His wife runs the print shop my clothing company uses :)

I have had "wrong" feelings about all sorts of things. Some other christians say it's wrong, so you'll have a wrong feeling because of that. Trust me, it is so, I have experienced that myself. We christians might often times be very wrong with our personal opinions.

Sincerely seek the answer from God, if it's wrong or right. I did that and the question is resolved for me.
