I really didn't know where to put this, and I'm looking for advice from older Christians (though I'd love to hear from teens too).

What do you do to get closer to God when you feel alone? When you realize that you've been going a separate path and really aren't "in touch" with Him anymore? It is a terrifying feeling. Like being in a freezing cold lake without a bottom. I go through the motions because it is the right thing to do; but it is half-hearted. I am not loving the LORD with all my heart, soul, and mind.

I'm not saying I'm not a christian; Overall I've seen a lot of growth in my life. But I feel like I'm sliding. I do not have the joy I once did in the amazing sacrifice of Christ. It is terrifying to hold on when you cannot feel What you are holding. To follow the Light when you cannot see It.

I could really use all your prayers/thoughts. Thanks, guys!

The only way I know is to utterly die to the self, to surrender, and wait for Him in your prayers and trust Him.

Also it's often times when I feel alone that he feel closest to me, if you feel like your going through the motions what you are lacking is an actual bond and relationship with him.
You see God is one who desire more than anything yes even more so than his own throne a true relationship and love with his children he wants you to fall head over heels with him to desire to know him with a hungry and endearing heart he wants to be the one you run to for help to be the one you listen to as to who you are not what you or others say or think you are to him you are a beautiful rare and delicate flower in which he wishes to hold carefully and lovingly as if it's it's the rarest treasure in the universe.

I sing along with worship songs.....it saturates the atmosphere with praises to God and God inhabits the praises of his saints so God comes closer to me. I can feel His presence this way. It's also a great way to naturally boost a down mood/depressed feeling. The joy of the Lord is medicine to the soul.

I've done this through many trials and also when I was alone especially during college when people turned against me for no reason other than I wanted to please God more than the approval of men who were into some bad stuff (name only Christians so to speak but living like hell).... I did a lot of soul searching and came to the conclusion it wasn't my fault....so with the Holy Spirit's help I stood strong in the face of a lot of adversity, ridicule, name-calling...stuck with my beliefs and got through it worshipping God. It's like teflon for the soul (worshipping God) none of the enemies words/barbs/tactics via people work when you got a coat of the Holy Spirit shielding your heart by way of worshipping God. You put on the armor of God by worshipping God...this draws His presence closer to you and will literally overshadow you throughout the day (like Israel with the cloudy pillar) all you have to do is praise God. :)

Worship music is a big thing. i ask the holy spirit to come a lot and for jesus to come tomy side and just to show me that theyre with me. I just hear from God often because especially then its just important to take time out like..lord let me hear your voice.
Often then I get a personal message or intepretation and feel his presence.
Or he shows me bible verses.

And rebuke lonliness!! :D
