So, i just need some ideas i guess i could call them. I play a ton of sports and I'm on every sports team i can be on at my school. And i go to a public school so there isn't to many christians that i know of that go there.. and I'm honestly struggling with balancing God and sports. I wake up, train, during the day i research, before bed, train. I just want to succeed in it i guess. but i just want to be able to balance God and training. Even on the field/court, how do i keep God and love in my mind while I'm focusing on the scoreboard. Pushing and shoving for the ball, getting mad when you mess up, all those things that come with sports. How do i keep God in mind while doing those things? on and off the field? thanks loves :)

What I do is I pray before games, and if I mess up or get mad at someone during the game I mouth the words "Lord take away my anger and help me keep my eyes on you" or "Help me know that I am your child and no mistake ever makes me less" over and over. Then I pray after the game. Hope this helps :)

Oh, and for off the field I always make sure I have time to take a while to just talk or pray to God every night. Even if I'm exhausted. Always make time for the Father

God isn't some 'thing' you have to push yourself to be with. He's a living being Who's with you every step of the way. When you're having breakfast He's there. When you're in your car He's there. At work, school, home, on the field, He's there. There's nothing you can or will do that He's not going to be there. So don't feel like you have to 'seek' Him. He's already there.

Putting God first means you recognize that fact, and therefore everything you're going to do you'll do with His presence in mind. Like wise, He's going to hear every word you say, so let your everyday speaking be as a prayer. That's how you pray without ceasing. Even in your thoughts, let your thoughts be as prayers.

I guess that's all to say that you don't have to balance the time you're with Him vs the time you're on the field. He's on the field with you, all you have to do is open yourself up to His presence there. He knows when you knock that defender down it's not with malice (and He knows when it is). The balancing act isn't this time vs that time, it's in equal time all the time.

Just say "Jesus help" in your mind or out loud.....it's the simplest prayer and covers all bases.....It doesn't have to be a long winded billy-graham esque prayer ....Jesus knows your needs before you even ask....all you have to do is reach out like blind bartemeus and ask for help....."Jesus help" does just that! :)

If he really is there all the time, watching me all the time, then I am in BIG trouble!

I think you got great responses, but I just want to tell you that I kinda was in a situation similar to yours. All my friends were not dedicated christians and I was largely involved in sports. The peer pressure affected my christian life and I was distancing myself from praying and going to church. Make sure you keep watch of that, it is a slow concealed process. When you feel different, be proud of it -- be proud of your christianity ☺. I know the stress associated with sports first hand, but always remind youself everyday that God is with you

Leneah, you're into sports, but if u were more, that is, even a bit into music and the lyrics that speak to and about God, you may find repeating, humming or just meditating on biblical lyrics from your heart may help.

Play as if he's watching, play well, and don't let the game tempt you to disobey him even if it means still loving a kid that fowled you
