I know that God forgives us all for any reason for it even says in the Bible that God would forgive 77x7. However, when you have a habit of doing something and you try to fight the temptation but just can't and you fail. How many times can you still make that same mistake, still fall into that same temptation, before God really quits forgiving you? Does He ever quit forgiving you? I'm sure it makes him upset that when we ask for forgiveness and we are supposed to quit doing that thing to show our love towards Him, but continue to make the same mistake and fall in with the same temptation.

I've prayed for a while now asking that He would deliver me from a specific temptation that always gets me. However, I am really unsure if it's really the fact that He hasn't answered yet or that He has but I just do it anyway. I really don't know how to describe the issue but I truly love the Lord and I would risk my life anywhere at anytime to do things for His namesake. However, I just cannot seem to break this specific temptation. Not only that but I used to be very addicted to another certain thing but I was saved and then delivered from that, however, that specific temptation just came back and I messed up but I really haven't fell into that specific temptation for a very long time now. What do I do? I pray for forgiveness so that's a start.

Never. He will NEVER stop forgiving his children.

But that doesn't mean that we can sit back and put our feet up, we have to FIGHT. If we really understood what Christ did for us, I think we would throw off our addictions with horror and loathing, because they sent Christ to the cross. The Son of God, God Himself, humiliated himself by becoming man...living perfectly in a sinful world like being the only one with perfect-pitch in a tune-deaf choir. Living a life that was humanly IMPOSSIBLE, and after all that, losing sight of the father who he had been communing with since eternity. When He cried, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" He was suffering Hell. And He did if for US. As the Children of God, Christ went through something we will never be called to face, because he has promised that "I will never leave you or forsake you." Doesn't that make you want to FIGHT and STRIVE, and WIN? He's given you the power to overcome temptations, USE those powers!

if you'd risk your life you would die before doing this non-specific thing, how could you as someone who'd be a martyr just be doing non-specific temptations.

Looking past the martyr statement your probably ok if your trying
