I think kids especially, are more sensitive to life events than most adults are. Meaning they may feel more hopeless and not know of another way to solve their problem(s).. So many of the kids here on CC are either suicidal, have thought about it, or attempted it, and a good deal even self-harm. Kids may not be equipped with the knowlege that suicide isn't the solution, or the ONLY solution. All they know is they want the pain and trauma to stop, by any means possible. Whether it's suicide, alcohol, drugs, etc..
I think that's true...

No one is "Too far gone." For me, its easy to connect with people going through hard times, and its easy for me to give advice. I never let go. Im always there, whether people deserve it or not. Because, in the end, no one deserves anything

When I attempted suicide, there wasn't anything anyone could have said to change my mind. It was decided and I was going to go through with it. I never cried for help. No suicide note or anything. At the point where I was, I didn't want help. I just wanted it all to be over.

I used to harshly judge people that committed or attempted suicide, but that was before I found myself in that position reasoning to myself that killing myself was the only option left available to me.

So, in my church there has been 8 teens in the student ministry who have taken their life in the past 6 months.
Yesterday I really got thinking about this...
How do we stop this?...How do we help?
How much of a difference would it have made if I was there to reach out and just say "Hey, are you okay? I have noticed you look a bit down, may I pray with you or would you like to talk?"

I have known many people who have taken their lives, and I took that blame upon myself, in therapy this topic came up and she told me there was nothing I could've done, they would've done what they did what they did with or without me."

I hate hearing that from people. I believe that an act of kindness goes further than some can see...
Letting someone know that they aren't alone or forgotten can save a life.
Do any of you agree?

We can't keep going on saying "they are too far gone to help"
This breaks my heart.

Please comment saying if you agree or not.
I'd love to hear opinions on this
Something is seriously wrong with that student ministry if eight people thought life was no longer worth living in six months. That's utterly hopelessness. Something is very wrong with that. Ministry is supposed to be about hope in God, not hopelessness.

Yes, and we honestly have no idea what we are doing wrong.
I try to help out to spread encouragement and God's love within our church but there's only so much one person can do (especially one teen)

We are trying though

Yep
You judge people until you know what they go through

Alot of the teens here self-harm. I think they would strongly disagree with your definition of who self-harm is for. Not all people are equipped with the mental and emotional strength that others might have.. Personally, all the teens here who I have the pleasure of knowing, are stronger AND more mature than many of the adults here. :)

Most likely, I would blame the parenting for the cause of suicidal actions.

Not always. my suicidal thoughts and attempts weren't caused by my parent's actions. Life events from early teens even up to today is what almost did me in. People suicide for a variety of reasons, and it's not always the parents' fault.

Welp this younger generation is doomed from the get go.
So be it.

Until people actually grow a back bone there will be suicidal people everywhere.
