So, I am a 19-year-old female and for almost 2 years I have been struggling with salvation and what saving faith is. I was reading in my Bible and came across the verse about the unforgivable sin and instantly a cursing thought towards the Holy Spirit popped in my mind.I got so scared and didn't know what to do, well that happened about a month ago and since then all kinds of evil thoughts have popped into my head. Thoughts that are cursing and demonic and hateful towards Jesus, and His Holy Spirit. I have read everywhere where people say that is common and not the unforgivable sin. I am to a place now where i don't think I have but still worry sometimes about what if I really have and people are just trying to give us heavy thinkers a little hope. If so then it dont seem fair that I have been trying so hard to understand salvation and if I really have saving faith for just a sudden thought(s) to mess my chance up.

Worry no more. The fact that you're concerned about having committed the unpardonable sin, means that you HAVE'NT committed it. Just repent and ask forgiveness. :)

Although I went through a few days of feeling hard-hearted and like I didn't care? I'm still a little that way but it may just be me trying to move on .

Casey I wrote a blog recently about how I felt unworthy of Gods love at a point in my life. If you'd like to read it just click on my name go into my profile under blogs it will be there. If you don't want to read it that's okay too. You are worthy. I did many things in my past that I'm not proud of. I knew God existed but I felt so unworthy of his love. I was also going to this church with my Mom and the Pastor there didn't like me because his Son wanted to date me. He didn't want that. He actually did a whole sermon about dating and talked about how he wanted his Son to only date marriage material girls. Apparently I wasn't . We had gone on a youth trip and he held my hand. The adults supervising the trip told him and he had a cow. I guess holding hands is equal to sex in his eyes. After that sermon I told my Mom I was never going back there and I didn't. But the next few years were very confusing to me.

The only sure answer I, or anyone else's for that matter, can give you is to keep praying, keep seeking God, keep begging for forgiveness. And if you don't feel reassured instantly, just tread on. I know someone who is a very strong man in the Bible. He's been a believer for decades, and has the fruit and love for God that a believer should have. But till this day, he still struggles very hard with the exact same problem you are having now. Feeling guilty and wondering if he's committed the unpardonable sin. Well, for me or any other human to say that, "Yes, you are saved, don't worry," wouldn't be right. It's not our place to assure anyone of their salvation; it's the Holy Spirit's hobo do that. And so it may take years for you to get over it, but don't lose heart. Just keep knocking that door, and eventually all things shall come to pass.

Apparently you are under a severe spiritual attack, start rebuking that voice every time you hear it, you have the power in Jesus name.......use it!!!! And if you need more power ............FAST, that is our ultimate against the powers of evil. Read up on spiritual warfare.

Hi Casey,

I'm sorry for your trouble and I will pray for you. You must understand that spiritual battles take place in the mind. A few things to remember: Satan is a liar and the father of lies; He is the accuser of the breathern. Lastly, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of a sound mind. So, God is not accusing you, is He?.

One way to tell where that voice in your head is coming from: Is it forceful and accusative? Then it is Satan, and to be rebuked and ignored. Is it gentle and leading? That is the Holy Spirit and should be listened to.

Don't let that liar get you down.

So everyone is basically saying these thoughts are not mine? I know that I have had these thoughts about Jesus normally and just tried to ignore them, and then after reading the verse about the unforgivable sin, the thoughts started about the Holy Spirit.

The unpardonable sin is to deny God. We literally are in the last days upon this earth. The devil's time to steal souls is short, and he knows it. That's why so many are under spiritual attack right now. Rebuke those thoughts in Jesus' name and they will stop. Keep rebuking if you have to.

Hi Casey! Welcome to CC. Your Spiritual status says "unsure". That's really the whole ball game. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, then He said He would NEVER leave you nor forsake you. Please read 1 John 5:13.
May God's peace, Grace and Love fill your heart and mind. In Jesus sweet Name I pray.

You're certainly not condemned so please just relax. Try to stay as close to God as you can. What you have described is common and you really haven't done anything wrong. Glad to have you join our family. Welcome to CC.

This is just one of Satans lies trying to keep you from the truth. He is trying to make you feel unworthy.

Hi Casey
Sometimes when the enemy knows we have certain fear, he places things such as thoughts in our minds to fuel that fear. At this point he knows you have not made a full commitment to Jesus so the enemy sees you as having little power to fight against him. Also the more fear he puts in you with those thoughts, the future he pulls you from Christ. What better way to keep you from giving your life to Christ than to make you think you hate him.
You make the decision, do you want to be saved or not..if you do then make the commitment and trust God to give you the strength to live it out.

So I know people and articles I have read say that the unforgivable sin is to deny The Holy Sprit, but I thought it had to be speaking aginst The Holy Spirit. I say this because of Matthew 12:32 which says " And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." So doesn't that imply that it is a sin that has to be spoken? And then I wonder if it means verbally spoken, or mentally spoken. And if it means to do it in public in a way of leading people away from God or in privacy of just yourself. I am so confused about this and have seen so many different interpretations of this verse. I also still occasionally feel like I have done it. I just want to move on and grow in Christ.

The following scriptures reveal when a group of scribes blasphemed the Holy Spirit and Jesus revealed that this sin was unforgivable.. Note what they said about the Holy Spirit..

Mark 3: KJV
22 ¶And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

The Holy Spirit was with Jesus and Jesus did His miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit.. But these scribes saw the miracles and accused the Holy Spirit of being the prince of demons, satan.. They had just called the Holy Spirit ,, satan.. This was their blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus revealed they would never be forgiven for it..

Casey, like Lady Blue said, the very fact that you're THINKING about this and concerned that you did it proves you didn't. If you ask me, this is Satan's ploy to try to keep you thinking more about YOURSELF, than about serving the Lord your God. So stop thinking about you, and start whole-heartedly serving God!

But I thought things like that. So that means im condemned.
Sins can be in actions, things we do that we shouldn't ;

inactions, things we don't do that we should ;

words, spoken that we shouldn't, or not said that we should ;

and thoughts, things we think that we shouldn't,

and maybe even not thinking the things we should, like when the bible says, 'think on these things', and we don't.

But the point is, all these are ways we sin.

Now, what you need to do is settle it once and for all,
Did Jesus shed His blood for, die for, pay the penalty for, your sins?

If so, how many, some of them? Or all of them?

Did He pay for only the sins you spoke, or acted on, or thought?

Or did He pay for ALL your sins, past present and future, in thought word and deed?

On the cross He said It is Finished. The penalty has been paid. In full.
If God was not satisfied with the sacrifice, Jesus would still be on the cross paying for it, or He would still be in the grave, and He'd be waiting for another sacrifice acceptable.

But Jesus DID pay it all, the tomb is empty, He rose from the grave, God's justice is satisfied, salvation is ours as a gift by His grace through faith in Jesus.

His love endures forever, and His mercies are new every morning, and if Jesus is your Savior now, there is no condemnation for you, and nothing can separate you from Him or His love for you. Hallelujah!

Just remember, as others have said, there's a slick enemy that wants you to doubt God's love for you, or that Jesus sacrifice wasn't for you, or good enough.
The devil's a liar.

Remember, too, that he had the nerve to actually think he could beat Jesus with His Own Word, in the wilderness after Jesus fasted forty days. Ha, fat chance!

But if he's got the nerve to try that with Jesus, our Good Shepherd, he won't hesitate to try it with us, His oft-bumbling sheep (no offense to anyone). And so don't let it surprise you that he'd take parts of God's Word and try to use them to condemn you.

Something that's just coming to me, is, it kind of makes sense, but also should be an encouragement.
The enemy knows how much we believe God's Word...We believe in Jesus and take His Word to heart.

So if the devil can take that Word and cause us to see something like 'we've committed the unpardonable sin', or 'there remains no more sacrifice for us', because we sinned again,
welllll,
of course he knows we're going to believe it, because it's God's Word, and we know His Word is Truth, right?
So we allow ourselves to be condemned by the very Word God gave us to save us! Yeesh!

Buggers, that insideous little b_*t#rd will stop at nothing to try to bring us down to his pit.

But listen, the fact that you believe God's Word so seriously as the Truth, is the very thing that should assure you that you belong to Jesus! If you didn't believe it and want to love His Word, you wouldn't care what it says about you anyway.

So the fact that you care is your confirmation in your spirit, and what you need to do, having settled the FACT that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, is to start believing in the everlasting love He has for you, and rejecting the lies the enemy tries to use against you from our Savior's Word.

Remember...OUR SAVIOR! Not our condemner. The One who SAVED us FROM condemnation.

Start praising Him and thanking Him for the wonderful salvation He won for you and gives to you freely, and the enemy will have to flee.

Don't listen to thoughts or feelings of condemnation. Jesus is our Lord and Savior, you can settle it and thank Him today. God bless you. :)

I hope I am doing everything right, lately I have been just going through the motions. I way up read my Bible go through the day at night do my devotions and go to bed. I just feel like something is missing ever since these thoughts. some people have said that it is just satan trying to blur and scramble my feeling and emotions to make me feel bad. I feel like i am somewhat heard hearted about this whole issue or like I am building a wall so I don't have to think about it. I don't even know anymore....sometimes I think about what if I'm not concerned enough because I'm not as scared as i was when the thoughts first started. I just kinda brush it off now and pray for mercy and that im not condemned.
