Ecclesiastes is a very good book, very thought-provoking. It always shocks me to think that I am reading the writings of the most intelligent man ever living...the INSPIRED writings of the most intelligent man ever living! That verse you quoted could probably be for everyone :)

The wisdom books are better learned at a young age, I came in late in the game and I am the unstuck man.

Very true! The whole Bible and the gospel message, really. I am very blessed to come from a home where it was taught!

I get a kick out of realizing the wisest man ended up with 500-1000 wives and concubines. He's the wisest? What's that say about us as a species? lol

We really REALLY need God to do our thinking for us!

No kidding, having 1000 wives is wise? I figure 1 would be a handful...how do you shop for 1000 wives?

It was excessive even for the day! It was definitely following the principle of "power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely." Yet he was still a great man of God. And if THAT doesn't prove that it doesn't depend on us, I don't know what does! God is merciful.
