Hi! I’m Lucy and I’m 17.

I’ve been an active Christian for nearly two years now, but recently I’ve been finding it hard to balance my faith and my beliefs with socialising and just really communicating with my friends (they aren’t Christians and some are quite judgemental), so I just don’t know what to do.

I live in England and at my age my friends are all about drinking, boys, and s*x but I just can’t relate to any of that, especially as I’m trying really hard to focus more on my relationship with God after a small lapse in faith a few months ago.

I’m not entirely sure what I’m hoping to gain from this post other than getting this off of my chest, but I feel myself getting more and more distant from my friends and as I say - I don’t know what to do.

If your friends are all about drinking, boys and sex, then you're better off without them. Good riddance and those aren't the kind of friends you want or need, to have...

hi Lucy! im sorry to hear this. i live in england too and girls my age are all about that (boys, drinking/smoking and sex) nowadays. its really awful.

i suggest you dont associate with them as much as you would want/like to. they'll put you under peer-pressure to start drinking, dreaming about boys, getting yourself into a messy situation (probably involving sexual matters). so, i deeply relate with you. i feel isolated all the time! but as a Christian, do the right thing. get yourself more involved with youth who are followers of Jesus. you'll benefit!

just advice from a fellow teen. God bless :D

Try to surround youself with people who think the way you do or similar. Dont keep people who are only bout drugs and sex around. Try to find healthy people

Avoid such friends. If you don't avoid them, they may make you to become like them. So, avoid them totally. The HOLY SPIRIT will lead you to the right friends. Remember to pray them always.

The bible says that you shouldn't surround yourself with those kind of people and that having wise counsel and friends is good so try to replace them lol ik that probably isn't what you wanna hear but it's just the truth cx. Also getting close to God isn't hard it's just costly we are never too busy we have to make time most of the time we tend to push him after other things and then we run out of time and never get around to him this is something i struggle with tbh but i set alarms i try to make a schedule and of course we all have to do everything to the glory of God so hope that helps fam God bless.

Praise God you are more mature then they are. I love this quote..Guigo, a Carthusian monk in 1200 something...like 1214 said, "Don't rejoice because you are better than someone else, but take responsibility for it". There's truth to that, but thank God you are wiser. Stand strong and be an example for those 'little' children to look to in their weaker, truth seeking moments. Maybe they'll even call out to you for support. You're beautiful.

I understand what you are going through? Ae your friends pressuring you in any way? Have you tried talking to them about God? If they are willing to change and/or are pressuring you to do bad stuff I suggest get away from them. Why be friends with people who you have nothing in common with and don't agree with? Have you tried searching for new friends who share your belief in God? I know it's tough and frustrating but be strong and don't give in to be part of them.

Corbinscam (male teen) posts occasionally. Natania (TemporaryCircumstances) has been away far too long, and Andy has not posted for almost two months, though he was not here for very long before that, nor has Alex. Maybe not being online is a good sign? One can always hope that those teens who are no longer active have moved on to better things :)

Hi, I just stumbled across this post and I might have some words of wisdom worth sharing.
I am 46 now but I still remember enough about what it was like being a teenager. I distinctly remember advice like "those friends aren't good friends, find some others" never seemed to help at the time. Unfortunately like most good advice I didn't understand how true it was until I was older.
As I got older I found the more that I stuck to my own morals and my own standards the more I found other people like myself.
You can also find friends who may not share your beliefs but are at least willing to respect them and accept you for who you are not who they want you to be. That's what true friendship is.

Hi Lucy :) !
I can understand your
Talking about boys is normal in this phase, but drinking and s*x is definitely not!

I also try to not be friend with someone with such mindset.

If your friends are like that, but you still aren't able to break your friendship with them, then, take a break from them and try to find Christian friends.
I'm not saying you should take this only decision, It would be better if you value every options in this thread.
Don't avoid your friends at any costs, always if they show you love and kindness! If they don't, try to avoid them and don't tell them you are doing it.
Meanwhile your insecurity for this situation, you could try to find new friends, so it may be easier to leave your current friends. If you aren't able to, maybe they will find you :) .
Don't put pressure on yourself! If you still can't find even one, don't think you didn't try enough!
May The Lord help you.
