Hello. My name is Maria and I’m 14. I’ve never really had a religion because my biological parents weren’t very religious and being moved from foster home to foster home growing up made it hard to keep a religion or even believe in God. Although I have my doubts about God from time to time I’ve been looking into different religions and haven’t exactly made my mind up yet but I’m pretty confident that I want to be a Christian. I believe that there is a God but I honestly fear what he can do and don’t know which religion I should choose as I may choose the wrong one if that makes sense. But I’d like to know more about Christianity and if anyone has any advice on how to pursue being a Christian I’d appreciate it.

There is only one God. The God of Abraham. God who sent Christ to speak the truth and die in our place for our sins, so whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Plus Christians can eat a bacon cheese burger.

Yes tommy I too believe that there is only one God. However I have my doubts and existential questions come to mind because of my situation. And I wouldn’t call that an excuse I’ts more of a boundary keeping me from believing what I should and having a desired relationship with God.

What other religions have you been looking into?

Why do you want to be a Christian; why do you think Christianity is better?

Are you sure you're 14?

It's best to have child like understanding of the nature of God, for most people. My understanding comes from the examination of evidence, much like an adversarial court proceeding. This is because I was an atheist until I was 21.

Yes I’m very sure of my age. I am 14 years old going on 15 in about 2 months. Why do you think it’s best to have child like understanding of the nature of God again?

Why do you feel there are certain things you should believe? Not saying there aren't, but why do YOU feel you are supposed to believe them?

And, can you tell us what those things are?

To be a true, genuine Christian there is nothing to "pursue" to become one. You simply need to be genuine and honest in admitting you are a sinner, that you can't save yourself from those sins and need God's son, Jesus in your heart. And that by his death in the cross and his resurrection he is able to forgive our sins.
Then the pursuit begins to know God better and allow Him to work in you and change you.
That's the basics.

Yes, you can eat bacon ... provided that it is TURKEY bacon! But the book of Leviticus says not to eat (or even touch) swine (pigs), throughout all your generations forever!
