    Default Suicide

okay, so, i read someone's post on here and went to check his profile out because his response didnt sound "christian" at all. you're probably wondering where i'm going with this, soi'll try my best to explain. i found the person was a teen who was planning to commit suicide because he was feeling so lonely. it was frightening for me because i was thinking he was some sort of teen who was trolling around here. i dont know. it dawned on me that this person was actually going to kill himself any time soon. it makes me so sad no one didnt realise what state he was in. i think its too late for me to act (i sent him a pm but i dont presume he will get it at all)

do we believers have the responsibility to reach into someone's life who is contemplating suicide? and if we dont at all, is the blood on our hands? i just feel so bad that maybe if i could of seen his post earlier i might of had prevented him from harming himself. i really dont want to feel guilty like this… any thoughts???

The thing that makes these posts so difficult is we regularly get trolls on this site. So it makes it difficult to know if s one posts are serious or not.

Also most people don't know how to handle someone that is suicidal. They feel helpless so they do nothing, because they don't know what to do.

People claiming to be contemplating suicide on this site happens a few times a year. Mostly new users. But with so few equipped to deal with it it makes responding responsibly difficult. As Demi said, someone that doesn't understand can make things worse.

    Intercede for them in prayer.

Also, post hotline numbers or links to sites which offer immediate help to those in urgent need.

I didn’t see a temple in the city because the Lord God All-Mighty and the Lamb are its Temple. The city didn’t have need for the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the Glory of God gave it light; the Lamb is the Light.

First: DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!

Second: If there's anything that you take away from Romans, it is that God is sovereign. Nothing we can do can somehow throw Him off plan or catch Him unprepared. If you felt you've done something wrong, and failed to do what you should have, confess it on your knees and accept God's forgiveness, freely given through Jesus Christ, and learn from it. And in my experience...there's very little you can really do as a stranger, and amateur (not a counselor or something), from long-distance. Pray for them!
“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”

I usually don't bother those kinds of people. Not because I'm a jerk, but just because idk how can advice from a sarcastic teenage forum anti-troll with next to zero experience in any tragedies be effective against such a problem. Also, it's technically not considered murder if you don't get involved..

You are definitely correct, any talk of Suicide or self harm must be taken seriously. No matter who, or where, GOD would want us to help & save a life, GOD has a plan for all HIS Masterpieces, us HIS creations. GOD see's the heart, we are HIS Earthly Angels, HIS children.
I am unaware of the young persons cry for help in a message on this site? I just joined am finding my way around in here, you can go back & find that message & write to this person, ok? Maybe GOD has appointed you to do it? Just try & see what the LORD will do, using you as HIS earthly Angel. Its all about the heart, please remember this fact, you have a Beautiful heart, GOD gave you that heart for a reason. Be obedient to the call in your heart, GOD can do anything, HE is not limited, by man, nor demon, we limit HIM with our doubt sometimes!......Maybe, GOD is testing your obedience?

GOD BLESS YOUR PRECIOUS HEART ALWAYS! Amen & Amen!

    Love & Hugs!

It's so difficulty to know how to respond to someone who is talking about suicide and is actually communicating a specific plan. I praise God that you have a heart that has compassion to want to reach out and help. If you believe that God is sovereign, then you must trust His timing. If His timing directed you to see the post sooner, you would have seen the poster sooner. His timing allowed you to see it later. Trust His timing and trust how He prompted you to reply. Trusting in God, means releasing the outcome to Him.

    Hi Gracie,

I am a Mental Health Worker, & a Spirit Filled Born again Christian. I do know what I am talking about, when I say always take Suicide & self harm talk serious. I had a man only 30yrs old via internet last night start talking about not wanting to live & how he will die soon. Not that I can stop someone if that is the case, GOD had me there for a reason & I did what I felt led to in my spirit, & he is safe now. I don't know this man personally, nor will I ever see him in person.
Yet GOD used me to help him, & I was not feeling well myself, at that time. I do know 100% that he talked with Mental Health online workers, & his life in the long run is in GODS hands! Amen & Amen! <><<

    GOD is in CONTROL! Amen

    Love & Hugs!

I think what JackieJ said was excellent. And to add to what she said I'd also remind you that we are not always where we are so we can act. Sometimes where we are is so we can do nothing, but we learn. There were some things to learn from this... including things about yourself. Skip the guilt and take it for what it is. God teaching you.

it makes it a bit hard, but we shouldn't start to question or judge what a person feels or says in here. I think my mission is to spread God's word and His love, pray my message gets through that person's heart or anyone who comes to this forum, for fun or because they really need a sign from God.
I want them to know God has a plan for each and one of us, and I am here for them. I keep in mind that if a person is here for the wrong reasons, I still want them to know the love of God either way, because if that person ever goes through an instance personally or a friend feeling lonely, depressed or suicidal they can use my statement to console or breathe life and truth! So please know if you ever feel the enemy is clouding your mind and feeding you lies, you can always come to this forum and know I will be here to shine light and love. Hope you all have a great day!

It was stated that we don't want to feel guilty about not helping if we can. But if God is in it, it is not guilt He lays on us, it is a spiritual burden to do the will of God He makes clear for us to do. The specifics may be different for different people. Some have been given gifts by God to help, some have been trained in the health industry to give trained appropriate responses, and some are simply able to give the hope by which their life changed, and distribute Scripture which God would lead the way in telling them thru you. In any event, if a life is at stake we should be ready to act - to encourage people using scripture and even follow up with getting wise counsel or professional health care workers assistance. The burden is a calling, we should take the speaker seriously, regardless of the outcome. And we must take God seriously when He calls us to act.
