I helped in the nursery during church today but in sunday school youth group I learned that
There are two types of interpretations (dont remember the weird names) of any book.
One is reading your own feelings into the book.
The other is thinking of what the author actually meant.

Anyways then our youth pastor Nolin talked about how most nonchristians know the bible better than christians do and how 80% of our population is said christian only because of lukewarm feel good churches where no one learns anything.
(Do 80% of kids at your school act chrisitan? That is the real question)

So like we learned that and we need to know our bible better than non chrisitans so we have a better chance of winning the debate.
(ie some homosexuals find other verses they THINK is for homosexuality and allows homosexuals to go to heaven.)

(Please no arguing with what others post only supportive stuff and posts of your own.)
(If you want to argue find another thread to argue on.)

Hey I like that name....i learn something today in church in my thread i made....but for some reason people make a debate out of it....or that they try to correct me and that is all right i need that support!
the threads "Understanding" has the things that i learned. yeah not a fan of debate either friend.

Today the homily centered around the "Salt of the Earth" passage in Matthew. The gist of the homily was that we are not in this world to simply condemn and judge our fellow man while half heartedly telling him about the faith out of the corner of our mouths. Instead as the "Salt of the Earth" we are here to bring happiness and comfort into peoples lives; to give them a reason to live by simply bringing some amount of joy to them every time we meet.

Father Boyer delivered the homily much better than my simple description. He has a way of reaching into your gut and twisting it around to really make you think about what he says.
