Ok so I read through this whole thread (which I never do x.....x)
I could not help but notice how this is nothing but opinions being thrown back and forth without any backing of scripture on either side. Excluding one post, there was scripture in that.
So I beg of you all, please post something more meaningful or you are simply wasting your time and just attempting to provoke the other side.
Romans 14:14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.
Ok dudes. Read these verses and tell me what you see in them. I will explain what I see from my point of view.
Things in this world are not naturally evil in and of themselves. Take a rock. Pretty bland and boring. Throw it at someones head and kill them and then it turns out to be a tool of evil.
Now there are things in this world that are naturally dark and are placed there to cause one to sin (there are plenty of examples, do I really need to give one?) but to one who is innocent and does not understand it, he can see it, walk on, and be unaffected by it. To this person who did not stumble over coming across it, was it evil to him? If it had no impact on him at all because of his innocence was he truly the worse because he might have seen it?
Of course what I just said can be taken to an extreme and be used as a reason to cover up sin. I do not mean it as such. As soon as something does have a impact in your walk with the Lord then it is sin. And there are things that we are not innocent of naturally. Murder, lying, lust etc, are all things that are hard wired into our spirit so don't even try to play those off as "I didn't know so it was not a sin"
It all boils down to if you are a true blood bought believer who is seeking after the Lord and pokemon honestly has no impact in your spiritual life at all, it is not sin to you. But if you are a true blood bought believer who is seeking after the Lord and pokemon does have a impact in your spiritual life, to you it is sin!
And the final touch to this.
Romans 14:1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things.
2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.
3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him.
4 Who are you to judge another's servant? to his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Please, to those on both sides. Do not judge each other over this. It only brings forth division. And I believe you can agree that is a goal of Satan. To those of you who are fine with pokemon, keep seeking after the Lord and make sure it is something that has no impact in you whatsoever, because if there is a doubt in you then you are sinning. To those of you who are not fine with pokepon, keep seeking after the Lord and make sure to stay away from it lest you start sinning. Remember this is between you and God. He knows if this is truly affecting you at all, you can fool me or fool others, but He will be the one to judge you.
I welcome anyone who wishes to challenge what I just said. Though I ask you to please bring scripture to me. Opinions mean nothing. I have no side on this, I don't care either way. If I am wrong prove it to me please. I have no allegiance to anything other then truth. "The absolute barrier to truth is the assumption you already have it" I am not assuming that I am right in this. I am sorry if I offend any of you. I am just so tired of seeing Christians divide over things just like this.
I pray that we can all just seek after the Lord and love Him.
