Sure, but you know. If a Female Christian singer went up on stage half naked so that she could attract more of an audience to preach to do you think that would be a good thing? Now counting in that her music is Christian and has Christian lyrics but she's exposing herself to get her music out. Don't you think that would be bad? You see, image does matter.

yes that would be bad. but did you see that happen? what band was it? if she is christian then see wouldnt do that! but some christian bands have stopped becoming christians because they were a christian band and losing fans because of that witch is sad! so christian should just listen to like gospel music? and hymns? what if some one doesnt like that type of music? so they listen to three days grace and disturbed or nickelback.

Well the old passes away and all things become new. God can set us free from music addictions as well. I used to listen to metal as well. And I would give the same excuses as you and others who listen to it. Then one day I decided to go to God and I prayed and asked him to speak to me through the bible and tell me whether I should listen to metal or not. I opened up to "Abstain from All Appearance of evil." All of the sudden the light went on. I don't even have the taste for metal anymore. I listen to Gospel, Finger Style acoustic guitar, ect.. Guess what..I found out there's more music out there that I like other than Metal! Then I was finally open to listening to softer, more relaxing, and calm music. Now I feel like a burden has been taken away.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."

Well as long as the music has a message of God's love and word, it doesn't really matter if it's a different type of music does it? Yeah, the world uses a lot of screamo music as bad & sinful, but Satan tries to turn everything good to bad. God is truth, Satan says lies that appear as truth. God has life, Satan has death that masquerades as life. With everything there's a good side and a bad side, the side used for Christ and the side used for sin & Satan. Cuz I mean, for example, God LOVES sex. He's the one that created it! But the world abuses it for the lie that it's the ultimate happiness. Just because the world abuses it doesn't mean we should stop using it the right way. I'm thinking music's the same way, as long as it's glorifying God it doesn't matter what type it is. :)

I agree! Paulasaurus.
Well if christian metal is evil? where do you draw the line? like if skillet is good but after that, then its bad?

well if the music is evil it can't be categorized as christian. lol. Skillet is good, but they're not really screamo. yeah John Cooper has a raspy voice but there's a difference between a raspy voice and screamo. anyways, drawing the line would be between whenever it's just plain out wrong things you're listening to. Like songs completely about sex, money, etc. aren't something u wanna listen to, right? But let's say a band like War of Ages is singing, are you going to condemn them when they're preaching the Gospel and they're glorifying God with it? I mean, it seems silly to me whenever people say things like rock music, screamo music is wrong. Yeah, it's different but different doesn't mean wrong. So you just have to pay attention to what the lyrics are about.

Here is my view on Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Christian Music:

I feel that it appeals to different kinds of people than other "contemporary" Christians, but is that a bad thing? I mean, likely an ex-punk would feel more at home listening to Underoath than Micheal W. Smith. God uses different people in different ways for his ministry to work. God uses different people's talents to reach out to the lost so they can be saved.

One of my phrases I made up is that God isn't always the 'Micheal W. Smith' Lovey Duvy 'Everythings Gonna be Alright' God we want him to be. Sometimes God is angry. It's a rightous anger, but it's anger.

What I feel is that God is getting his message to more people through Christian Hard Rock than if it wasn't around. God can use ANYBODY to execute his plan... That's what matters. It doesn't matter if it doesn't fit with your style, what matters is if it fits with what God sees fit.

Josh...I've told you before, but you must not have read my response from before in another thread. That scripture you are using is a great scripture in Greek!! But you are quoting mistranslation of the verse!! Look it up in the Greek. God created the physics of music and however Christians want to use those physics to glorify and praise the God, then who are you to say how a Christian can and cannot use what God has created for music??? The truth is God's will is in His Word and there's nothing in His Word that favors any one style of music over another.

Respectfully- do your homework, bro, and quit teaching your opinions from a mistranslation of the Bible. Remember...all scripture is inspired by God, but translations aren't.

That being said....Jesus Christ made me righteous by His sacrifice as well as the rest of my band that uses the physics of music, that God created, in a sound known as Symphonic Rock/Metal.

Peace

God is using peoples developing talents to reach others.

NO there wouldnt be hard rock/metallica bands in the bible

BUT that was in a completly different culture
Not nessecarily even a better culture. In their culture they had people litterally burning christians in their courtyards

But now the world is in a whole lot more of sins. No not in America is there the burning of christians (not that I know of correct me if i am wrong) but there is sexual immorality, cheating (in relationships and on assignments), and hate. But in other countries that does happen

So NO I mean you wouldnt go to an extremly conservative country and witness with hard rock and metallica but it is something that can fit the american culture and maybe the culture of other countries.

Personally I love it. Listening to screamo, Christian or not, helps me to vent my anger in a way that is non-destructive to my surroundings and my family. Plus it's epic!

The Devil Wears Prada and Lamb Of God are some of my favourites. :)
