What is sin? Sin means literally to "miss the mark" as in archery...

What mark is it that we miss when we sin? where were we supposed to aim that we missed?

The answer is we are missing God. to come to communion with God.. that is our goal... that is the goal of every human being everywhere... to be in communion with God. it is not a "goal" as we term it, i for instance had the goal today to see my friend and have some coffee... this goal i speak of is the culmination of every yearning we have ever... the milk and honey to our soul, our very lifeblood relies on our relationship with God.

When a person sins, the person is not living up to the image of life set by God.

is God picky?
is God some kind of prude who only associates with the "clean"?
if that is your impression then you have never heard anything of the bible...
God is the most humble, the most loving, the boundless ruler who comes to comfort the most lowly of his kingdom. God has said "i forgive you, now go and sin no more"
the wording of this says it all,,, I FORGIVE YOU comes first, the forgiveness is there before the declaration to sin no more.... the forgiveness of sin therefore is a constant..

If my sins are forgiven before i even do them then why even ask for forgiveness?

God lacks nothing. he does not need us as we need him. the forgiveness is there for all sins, but we MUST humble ourselves to ask for it.

why is it hard to stop sinning?

we live in a fallen world... we are not in paradise.. it is hard to stop sinning because sin is the means that we try to fix our condition by. since it does not work it never accomplishes more than to cripple its median.

It is hard to stop sinning because we are broken.

Human salvation seems to me to be like repairing an internal component of a gasoline engine... you must break it down, and down and down, into its individual parts... thus must a human being be broken down, and broken down and broken down from our egotistical pedestal, to the level where we truly realize our incompotence...
God did not put us in this position because he thought it would destroy us... he put us here so that we could be the arm of Love.. he put us here because he has endless faith in us.... let us return his immeasurable faith in the world with what faith we can muster in him, and it will be multiplied tenfold by God!!!

if someone insults you, then thank him
he has further humbled you.
thus your enemies do more good than your friends, for they take every opportunity to humble a man to the ground.

A water snake and the study of life

God himself would never want us to sin, but when we live in a world where the devil lives in almost everyone, how does the strength to resist arise? When person would love nothing better to live their lives, with lowliness, and all things that bring pain and sorrow and do not demonstrate the true love of God, then what?

Divorce
Abuse
Leading little kids into sin or adults who have not been able to grow up because of the evil and unkind nature of this world

If we all truly wanted to live good, healthy lives, and God truly worked to end lives that do not live this way, then we all would be in agreement correct?

But, it does not seem to work that way, instead, we get sick, sometimes because of God's good clean nature, pollen, or we get sick because of sin, but it does not matter these days, we always get taken care of, so what motivation is there to ever do what is right, and live by a rigteous standard? None.

I'd love to move away from the community I live in. But we all make choices. And a choice in how you expend your energy and heart to make an income, is one of the most important. It is eternity, is it not.

We all suffer. For sometimes even no fault of our own, it is another's fault. But what does God do, makes the good one suffer? Makes no sense.

Some get reverence and honor when they don't deserve it, all because of the perception you have at the moment or our inability to change our perception, therefore someone suffers, because of judging by outward appearance.

God gave you, your're one an only life. Why would you give it all to others, you were not born for them? You were born for your own adventure, and when you invite and allow others into your God given being, and life, then they should be appreciative. But even apprecaition does not ward off the devil.

People always think, because their lives have gone a certain way, that another's shall also.

Forced marriages, employment, forced friendships?

How can a friendship be forced? It is senseless. And exactly, barely anyone I live with has any sense. Having babies when they still live with their parents. Thinking mothers, who are not perfect images of Eve, or goodness, or God, deserve more than anyone else. The children she bears have lives of their own, and yet a needy mother makes her children miss out on life because of her own sins and faults.

But God sustains us. And you know if we get to live in a different situation, it might just kill ya. Like putting a water snake into the desert. New environment, has not adapted, not built for it or trained for it, probably will not survive.

Human beings can be docial or treacherous?

Anyway, probably have said more than I should, but it is all true, no lie, and maybe it makes no sense now, but write it down, remember and watch it play out as you STUDY LIFE!

As others have said the Devil will always seek to tempt us, and his temptations just get stronger when we are trying to quit a particular sin that has plagued us for a long time. Personally as a Catholic every time I feel tempted I say the St. Michael the Archangel prayer.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

That is just the short version; the long version is almost two paragraphs.
