I am personally quite a history nut so I can go on and on and on and bore you to death, so I'll keep this short and sweet.
A bit of background on Hitler:
World War I had ended with the defeat of Germany. They felt humiliated by the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles written by the 3 big powers (the presidents) of France, Britain, and USA, and Germany had no say what so ever. Aldolf Hitler was actually a soldier in WWI. Many German soldiers (including Hitler) felt betrayed by their people (especially the politics) as they were withdrawn when they were still on enemy soil and believed they could continue fighting on. Many people shared this common feeling so Hitler had quite some influence over the people of Germany and quickly rose to power.
So why exactly is his name heard so often? Why is he so famous? What is he known for?
Simply put, Hitler was responsible for the Jewish Holocaust. He had a strong belief in social darwinism which was about the survival of the fittest, how only the best survived in th world. This allowed Hitler (and along with his hate of Jews as he believed that the German army was not beaten fairly because it had been betrayed by the Jews, which he called the "evil partners" of the Allies. Hitler thought that the wealthy merchants and the international bankers, which were mostly Jews, had given all of Germany’s secrets away.) convinced most people to believe in the Holocaust. Hitler (yes, I know, he is a bad ass villain)was one of the most influential leaders of the world. He had a talent in public speaking, which was essential to winning the hearts of people. He is also famous for his uncanny luck in escaping MANY attempted assassinations and for doing everything to the extreme (I've forgotton the term for it...sorry).
So there you have it, a extremely brief history lesson
quirky fact: Did you know that a Jewish surgeon had operated on Hitler before he came to power?
