actually the music itself produced by the instruments without lyrics or anything might be considered "devilish" in nature, because when we praise Jesus and God, we sing and we give thanks for salvation, but when the music has the lyrics promoting the wrong message or the simply "music" coming from instruments, well what are we really celebrating? Nothing, its just for sheer pleasure, considerably pagan in some sense.

I remember a dream where i heard the electric guitar and it was like NAH NAH NAH NAH, the words except in that low electric guitar strum, with negativity you know? Like rejection or rejecting, so yeah rock music and other forms may contain subliminal messages we may not be able to percieve directly, always good to be careful.

No genre of music is the devil's music. It boils down to what the artist/group promotes.
except the black metal! The genre of music that does feature lots of satanic lyrics, themes and imagery is Black Metal and some of this bands actually have satanic beliefs..so I will say that primarily black metals will have lyrics that could be interpreted as being Satanic, but a lot of it is more for shock value..

The sub-genre itself is flooded with Satanic themes, granted. It's still not necessarily "the Devil's music". There are some death metal and black metal groups with Christian lyrics (rare, I know, but they're growing!).

This is why I say it has nothing to do with the music, itself. It has to do with what the artist(s) call attention to. It's the same as slapping a cliche and stereotypical content labels on anything else. :)

The only exception is country music; it all deals in bbq stains, runaway renegades, and love and loss. . . and it all sucks. lol.

All i can say is music can be percieve in different ways by people and it just all depends on who is listening.
What I think is that one should always be on guard when listening to music. This means that I am not excluding other music genre. There are songs that are too harsh and dark and may be called a devil's music. Some implies a positive attitude towards violence, premarital sex, death and other stuff like that...
The more serious use of Satanism is usually confined to the Black Metal genre, which is quite possibly because Black Metal is a largely atmospheric genre. Thus bands that create "evil" atmospheres tend to use Satanic imagery to fit it.
The spirit behind most secular music is Satanic. As far as i know many artists have admitted to "selling" their souls to Satan for fame and fortune and have also admitted themselves to channeling or being a conduit for evil spirits to create or perform their music. Remember, these are the artists saying themselves and the people around them that have said they are possessed or feel like the music is channeled through them. Satan is using music to break down people's morals, and he knows how to camouflage..

Words mean things. Avoid superlatives when they don't really apply.

Some =/= many

A few =/= most

Something to think about: I've heard something about when you stick out your thumb, index finger, and pinky finger while concealing your middle and ring finger, that it's of the devil. Why? Because it resembles a goat. I'm not sure if I explained it, but you get it (right?) The reason I mentioned it is because people do that at rock concerts. I'm not quite sure on whether or not it's of the devil, but it seems kind of silly. If memory serves correct, that's also sign language for "I love you".

This is I love you in sign language...

This is the "devil horns" the difference between the two if you notice, in this picture the thumb is drawn in to the center of the hand overlapping the middle and ring fingers.

Keep growing in your faith. God will convict you on these things when it is time. He will show you right from wrong when you're ready.
Amen to that sista!

Original black metal was intended to be very satanic. And the original scene and the players were in it were very serious in their occult/racist/anti-religion messages. Yet, that does not mean the music style itself is still satanic in nature. There are Christians playing that style of music, with Christian lyrics.

Also, i have seen that site you posted, it's hilarious. I go on it every so often to a good chuckle at their extremist views and 'devil under every doily' as someone once put it, haha. Sites like that hold no credibility in my eyes.

So I appreciate your help, all of you. I have made my decision and I hope you all feel the same way. Rock is not evil. I was just deceived a little due to what the bible calls "false prophits" that claim to know the truth. I believe that some preach too much on Hell, sin and wrath but forget to preach on heaven, forgiveness and love. I hope you all make the smart decision, go ahead and rock on!

It depends. As a lover of Classic rock, I recognize that much of it is indeed quite evil in what it promotes.

www.theater.goodfight.org has some good reviews I must say.

I don't think any one specific instrument is evil. I do, however, recognize that what is done with it easily can be. That is how I feel about much of rock music. The primary concern is lyrical content.

There are three things teens don't want God anywhere near. Those things are, music, dating, and other media consumption.

Proverbs 4:23 (ESV)
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Be very careful. The devil is after you.

1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Well, that's good to know. Oh, and who doesn't love christian rock? I mean, it's the awesome sound of rock, and the fulfilling of our purpose; bringing glory to GOd.
Well Christian Rock kinda misses the whole point of Rock in the first place. But it can be called Rock because it has the sound and it (technically) has lyrical content that fits rock.

Christian Metal on the other hand couldn't be called metal if all the bands were made of steel. The whole point of metal is a rebellion against society and the outpouring of anger at society, there aren't really any happy metal songs. Christian Metal just steals some sounds and changes the lyrics to be all happy and praise Jesus. Which isn't a bad thing but it just isn't metal, because metal is so much more than a sound.

Amen to the country music comment. That stuff is awful. Anyway, I'm a huge rock n roll fan, it's all I listen to. I don't think for a second I'm worshipping the devil by listening to it. A lot are shocked that I do listen to it but I enjoy it and it's the best music out there to me.

They do have christian rock as well if its the up tempo your after. Music does affect the atmosphere around as well as your mood. Have you noticed driving faster while listening to rock or driving slower to a love song perhaps. Christian music can get you into a positive mindset and encourage praising god. While linkin park or drowning pool etc can put you into a bad attitude. I do listen to those bands when upset they help me to calm down. The bible says the power of life and death are in the tounge. If you sing along don't sing blasphemies and such along with it. Some music can be used in satan worship as well as music can be used in christian worship. Some music does appear to have satanic messages. But use your discretion and balance out your secular music with positive christian music. Same with movies. There are many christians who don't watch christian movies. Christians like comedies and action and scary movies.

Well i think some music's agenda is very questionable, and ask yourself what do you get from music anyway? Too much bad stuff glorified in it.
A lot of music is subliminal. But you can find some genuine work out there.

The lyrics give it away.

Its only as evil as what it promotes. I myself listen all genres as long as there Christian, however (and this is my own personal conviction, doesnt mean its bad for everyone.) Blessthefall and Flyleaf I cannot listen to, here is why: Blessthefalls Christian album "His Last Walk" was awesome, but there new albums arent Christian, and what they promote is awful, now some can continue to listen to the Christian album and just ignore the others. I cannot, and that doesnt make me better, it means i have a different conviction. Flyleaf supports and talks about all the time a band called "Incubus" which is the name of a sex demon. and if a band supports that I cant listen again, because of my own convictions. now bands like Impending Doom and Texas in July who tour with secular bands so that they can get the message of God out to the lost in my conviction are good bands, they dont support or promote the band, they just tour with them to get the message of God to the lost. I do however believe if you listen to a band that supports evil then yes it is evil.
