HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! no way. have you heard all of the rock music that's been influenced by christianity? Tom Petty, U2, Led Zeppelin......... nowhere in the bible does it say anything about rock n roll being evil. so i think you're good to listen to it. What authority does the guy who said rock is evil have? no. rock is not evil. and if it is.... well..... IT"S AWESOME! i'm not gonna stop listening to it. I enjoy it. I'll still sing, still play rock songs on guitar. we've only got one shot at life, might as well make it fun.
Listening to rock and metal music isn't good. Not even Christian music is truly Christian.

Look , Every people has Genres Rock,Pop,Swag and Many.. Being Rocker is Cool , There is so many core of Being Rocker There has ANTI-CHRIST AND NOT ANTICHRIST ,Not all The Rockers Worship Satan Some of Them Do , Not Because of what they look,how they scream on they songs , PLEASE DON'T BE JUDGEMENTAL , I am A Rocker/Emo I am MetalCore,HardCore,DeathCore and Post-HardCore, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE is Example of ANTI-CHRIST BAND ,You can search the BAND you want to know if they are Anti-Christ , PierceTheVeil,BlackVeilBrides,BringMeTheHorizon,SleepingWithSirens,Sum41,FallingInReverse,Paramore,BloodOnTheDanceFloor,Memphis May Fire,Panic! at the Disco,A day to Remember,Green Day and Mayday Parade are my Favorite Bands. Well it's just like in everything, not all rock group are evil or worshipping the Devil. Some do act like they do which is actually quite sad but there are alot of good rock band and even christian rock band !
Someone said before that skillet is a christian rock band, really ? I only know their song "monster" but since english isn't my motherlanguage I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics except from the chorus so any opinion on that band ?

better to listen to christian music than rock music?
that is nonsense. Rock music can be christian music. There is christian rock (and metal), there is anti-christian rock and there is rock that doesn't take a position. Some artists want to write songs without everytime making a statement pro or anti religion. And it's right. Or do we tell photographers, painters, writers etc. that they have to make christian art or otherwise they make evil art and we need to boycot them?
By the way, I listen to a lot of rock music. And I think in general the lyrics are worse in hiphop and many pop songs (from a christian point of view). And there is nothing wrong with having more classical music in church instead of throwing out centuries of good christian hymns just to appear more modern. Personally I prefer rock music when alone at home at classical hymns in church. The lyrics make the difference.
Not to mention that most Hard Rock and Heavy Metal musicians are way better musicians than most worship bands and pop artists. And they have to as their music might be twice as fast
