If one is burning and cannot marry, much like self-flagellation, it is a matter of how much pain you are willing to endure. As Genesis states that God created man paired with woman, and also that they be fruitful, multiply, and subdue the earth, is it obvious that God supports some form of sexual gratification. Any man and woman can remember Christ's Last Supper in an intimate way, maybe it's best we just leave it at that for now.

Yeah pretty much man, its like lusting after fleshly things, unclean, and a worldly pleasure. Avoid at all costs and save yourself the time and trouble and the brain damage that comes with it

Even worse if you watch pornography or immorality because porn is immoraalll

Nothing is unclean of itself. Just as Christ can be painted an infinite number of ways with Himself as the focal point, so can masturbation be featured. If you paint it to be bad, it will look bad. But, it could be the difference between life and death, without any brain damage.

Leviticus is pretty clear on it. If you have an emission, take a bath. Also, I don't think fightingforthelight is "tugging"anything

If the Old testament is irrelevant, why do so many Christians cite the ten commandments as their source of morality? Is this just due to their being misinformed?
I never said they were irrelevant, its important for Christians to know how Jesus' comming changed the world. How great He is. He became our blood sacrifice etc...

But the two laws that i told you, sum up the 10 commandments, breaking one of the ten commandments, means you had failed to keep to the two laws I said.

We're born into sin

Lust is a sin. If we sin with our right hand, we are told to cut it off.

I always wonder, we are told to think like little children. Children clearly experience guilt at a certain age, once they realize that they have done something wrong. But they may not want to admit it, because the wrong thing they are doing feels good or tastes good, or sounds good. But what is "good"? What is good is pure and true.

Tell me, and this has probably been brought up- when masturbating, are you thinking unclean thoughts to get to where you "need" to be? Are you then showing a child-like, Christ-like faith, or living for your own pleasure?

And the Gospels of Sts. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are pretty clear on it, too. Jesus Christ died for our sins. Babies in the womb masturbate. It is part of our nature. And that part of our nature is not sin. Heaping guilt upon one another about it stems from the devil's envy.

"For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world."
(1 John 2:16)

As we are technically from the Father but man was sculpted from the earth, I do not know if this would mean that we are not born into desire exactly, but into a world full of desires. Forgive me, I sort of jumped into this conversation..

Eh, a little iffy on the masturbation in the womb thing. Babies touch themselves in the womb- but I don't know if it has been proven to be for the purpose of self-pleasure, rather than exploring."Oh hey, that wasn't there a few weeks ago...". Are their brains' pleasure centers even developed when they start this behavior, or is it more habitual?

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
You still wrong.

To say masturbation is a sin for everybody in every case would be binding what God has not bound. The Bible just does not specifically say such. But for many, masturbation is often a symptom of something else such as a heart of sinful sexual lust. The masturbation may not be a sin itself, but the heart of evil lust certainly is.

Matthew 5:28 "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
You may not think of masturbation as originating from an evil heart. Satan has ways of deceiving us into justifying what we do.Masturbation may not, in and of itself, be sinful. But when it comes from sinful lust, when it is done in a lustful manner, or it becomes an addiction to us that hinders our walk with God, then it is.

The Bible also says that eating shellfish is a sin, rape victims must marry their rapist (after the rapist pays the father of the victim 50 shekels), and that you must seek to kill any close relative/ friends who believe in different deities. Why would you choose to follow one part of the Bible and ignore the other parts? Why would you ask other people to interpret the Bible for you?
Actually that is not true, The bible said that if a man rapes a woman, he is to be put to death, but if an unmarried couple has sex (consenting on both parties.) that they are to be married.

You should read Deuteronomy. The man is only put to death if the girl is married or engaged. And there is some debate on if Deuteronomy indicates rape. the NIV I believe actually says rape is Deut 22:28-29.

Besides that, I can't think of an actual listed punishment that calls for the death of a rapist if the woman is not taken.

Now these things are all debatable, I just wanted to get some points out there, not necessarily my opinion.

To the original poster, I know where you are. I masterbate alot, and have since before I became a Christian. It's hard to stop, and I know I should, but it's really tough. Be encouraged... God loves you even if you have trouble overcoming a sin or not.

I know there's lots of people who go completely without it. It doesn't interest them. They're more interested in just other things like sports hobbies career etc. I'd try and avoid it at all cost. It only will lead you to other worse things.

But it isn't a sin, so you are ok.

All I have to say is follow your own personal convictions and do not follow somebody elses...if you feel it is a sin or can't do it in good conscience, then don't do it.. no matter what anybody else says.
