Hi, everybody!

I hope that no one will think anything wrong about me, because of this question. But even you do, I don't care and I want to ask.
Is masturbation a sin? Is it something in bible what says about it? What do you think?
And... You don't must to answer this one, but it would be nice to know( if it isn't secret): have you ever been doing this?

Thank you very much!
God bless you!

P.S sorry for my English... I'm not so good at it, so forgive me :D

Honestly, I do not see it as a sin, although I know alot of people do. I have wondered the same thing, but honestly I do it. When I do not it is a distraction and I cannot concentrate on anything. But I have noticed at times, it makes my desire for an actual person that much more real and stronger, that is the one bad thing I can say about it. I do not see a problem with it.

Okay... Actually, I do that too... But I will stop it if someone will say that it is a sin and God doesn't like it...
Thx for the answer and waiting for more!!!

God bless :)

Some people do believe it to be a sin, because it is pleasing the flesh, but the bible never really talks about masturbation.

To me, if the bible does not actually say it is a sin, than it is not.

Yes it is... The bible forbids lust and masturbation is a result of lusting after something and yes, I was once in it, but through Christ am free... God bless

CryingRose94, christianity is not about right or wrong, it is about doing things that benefit you and others. That is what paul continually wrote in the letters. If there is anything that doesn't help you or build you up, the best you can do is cut it out. God bless

The Bible also says that eating shellfish is a sin, rape victims must marry their rapist (after the rapist pays the father of the victim 50 shekels), and that you must seek to kill any close relative/ friends who believe in different deities. Why would you choose to follow one part of the Bible and ignore the other parts? Why would you ask other people to interpret the Bible for you?

Okay, to the original poster, masturbation is a sin.
Masturbation is the giving in, to a fleshly desire. Its sexual immorality. The Holy Word says that you should abstain from these things. If you lust after someone, and cannot contain yourself, you would be better to marry. Though this applies more so to fornication, it is connected to masturbation.

The mere fact that some people become addicted to it and find it hard to stop, is BECAUSE it is sinful. It is a pleasure to the flesh. Something like that is not of God.

To Dogma...
Your right, the bible does say to not eat shellfish..but then God says later that all things are good to eat. And the same applies to all of the things you've listed. You have listed Old Testament laws, which Jesus fulfilled when he walked on Earth. Since man failed to keep these laws, Jesus told us to keep to just two:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind
and
Love your neighbor like yourself

Ok, to put it blatantly and in your face, studies have shown tugging on that thing can lead to depression.
Besides, I'd rather get married and do it the way the good lord wanted it to be.

Okay... But think, if I can't get married now. And I need to do it. IS is better than to do IT(Like God wants to be) before marriage?
Pleas, don't think anything wrong about me, I was just wondering, because I wanted to know...

One won't make God less mad than the other. Both are not pleasing to Him. Lust is personally my hardest obstacle to overcome, so I know where you're coming from. Just remember, the lesser you do it, the easier it becomes to stop altogether. :)

Blessings

Matthew 5:28

"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

I don't think you can masturbate without really lusting in your heart. So I think we have to say yes it is a sin.

It's hard to get the victory over this but you can by staying close to God, staying away from things that put sexual thoughts in your mind (movies, certain websites, etc.), and staying in fellowship with other Christians, and busy with work/school/etc. and also the things of God.

Also if you can get married soon (to a godly person) that helps a whole lot, since then your desires can be fulfilled in a godly manner :) (1 Cor 7:9)

But until then you have to stay close to God, cut out whatever causes you to stumble, and "not arouse or awaken love before it so desires":

Song 2:7

"Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you
by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love
until it so desires."

If the Old testament is irrelevant, why do so many Christians cite the ten commandments as their source of morality? Is this just due to their being misinformed?

Jesus said to no let people judge you by the written word aka old testament, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea to follows them, if you followed the laws on food you'd be living really healthy, but you dont have to be judged on them. The teb commandments though are contained in the ark of the covenant, a very powerful box that killed everyone who touched it. I'd say I'd follow those rules if their that powerful in a little box.

All the ten commandments are contained within the two commandments given by Jesus, so we should be striving to keep them.

****edited**** I just thought it was funny.. But no, masterbation is only a sin if you are lusting, and/or addicted to it. There are medical reasons to masterbate, and if you masterbate and focus on...ermm.."finishing"... Thats not a sin.

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
