Hey you guys! yogart here. I'm doin research for ministry reasons and I wanna ask, what music genre do you wish had more Christian bands? Or like, what genre would you like to see a Christian group? It can be ANY genre.

Thanks!

I really wanna see more in the pop, and not that lame Christian pop, like it should sound like Skrillex meeting Lady Gaga, BUT CHRISTIAN. lol.
And post-core, and GOOD punk /:

Dude, yes!! Haha. I've been thinking the same. That'd be so sick.. Oh man, I know. What Christian's don't realize is that we're supposed to be representing Christ out there yuh know? And when they make that lame stuff it kills the vibe.

I'm aware of all of these groups and unfortunately only 2 out of each set are actually IN Christ full on or they're just singing repetitive stuff that won't take Christians anywhere but blind happiness..harsh but true. Only in the underground will you find music that truly gets to you. But thanks for your input!

Ah, well, i disagree.
Also, i don't rely on music to take me anywhere in my walk, sure it does happen at times, but really long as it is Christian themed or positive then i'm happy. Usually when i have music playing i'm doing other things.

Prog. Definitely prog. But I'm weird like that. Prog has lost much favor ever since the 80s. But my favorite bands are progressive rock/metal groups, or at least were when they started.

Neal Morse is the only Christian musician that does solid prog rock that I enjoy.

And much like my brother Ugly here, music doesn't really get me anywhere in my walk - or at least, has yet to. But from studying music to some degree, I really follow the musicianship - the instrumental value - over the lyrics.

Yeah, same here. It's not music that brings me anywhere in my walk but I'm talking about the underground scene where the youth is. Most of the music that people over 35 would listen to, they get bored with. Music isn't just music for this new age. It's a way of expressing themselves. I'm not saying that the youth wouldn't listen old or slow stuff, there are plenty of them. And also, look at the world. What are people mostly attracted to? Media! (mainly, the young folks) .. I'm not saying it's everything for everyone. Some people get along fine with a tune in the day, but a majority of this world think otherwise. Real Christian music is very important in unveiling individuals and messages. But yeah, music isn't the orchestrator of our walks. God is. Music(worship!) is what gives us a chance to praise Him, possibly bring self-actualization, and yuh know, do what music does to us.

It totally has! There's Becoming The Archetype but in my opinion there's only a few good songs.. Neal Morse is pretty solid, I dig 'em. And I agree; we need more prog.

Agreed, same here!

This is a redundant question as the thesis of classification on certain genre's is not possible using any religion or herd mentality driven topic. What always comes into question is Black Metal, there can be Christian music that follows the musical stylings of typical black metal bands, but for the fact they're christian it cannot be black metal.

This is the case with several aforementioned genre's.

Yes, true. That Christian band is just affiliated with the sound, not the title because the roots of certain genres are nothing of God.

I would prefer to see the abolition of 'Christian' as a genre.
