To break the trend of consistently heavy subjects, what games are you looking forward to? I'd like to hear it. Can be old games you plan on getting, or new games that are showing promise.

For me, I'm looking forward to Takedown. A new hardcore tactical shooter being developed by Serellen. A new indie company that was recently funded and formed by a very supportive fanbase.

Also, I'm interested in seeing how RE6 turns out. If it turns out scarier than Resident Evil 4, I'll certainly be interested in it. But, if it's just another GOW copy I won't bother with it. Even if Leon's in it.

Guess for now, I'll just enjoy LBP2 and BF3.

I don't know if there will be a market for ANOTHER call of duty game. It's sort of becoming a running joke to alot of people who used to be fans of the series how it never changes from game to game.

But, meh. "If it's not broken don't fix it." I s'pose change isn't always a good thing.

I wish I could play minecraft. But my computer's from the stone age. :p

A strategy gamer eh? Don't see so many of those where I typically reside. If I had an Xbox, I'd prolly be excited for Halo 4 too! Wonder what they'll change up this time around.

My hopes were dashed when Microsoft FLIGHT finally came out last month. Everyone was hoping it would be the the sequel to FSX, but it turned out to be a lame, stupid arcade game. Curse you, Microsoft!!!

You youngsters amaze me! Do your parents condone you playing these vile video games? Do they claim to be of Christ!

Please read these verses, put down your vile video games, and ponder the word of God, your behavior and conduct matter a great deal to God, and if these verses do not make you and your parents fall on your knees in repentance, that nothing will wake you up.

1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,
1Jn 2:16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Jas 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever desires to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Psa 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I have hated the work of those who turn aside; it shall not hold on to me.
2Co 6:17 Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you
2Co 6:18 and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Col 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Col 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (which is idolatry),
Col 3:6 on account of which things' sake the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience,

This is no game youngsters, this is your eternal life, I pray you get serious about the things of God, and put to death your worldly pleasures, that conform you to the world and not God!
Obedience matters, holiness matters, seperation matters, you love the world and its vain attractions more than God, and guarding your heart from defilement!
Repent, seek the mercy of God, put all your passion and devotion into Him and His word, work out your salvation with fear and trembling!

Oh, the irony.

Tried to start a thread that was harmless-- that everyone could perhaps enjoy without it devolving into a catfight over who's more right than the other. And yet, it pops up here too.

I suppose I should address this before someone gets offended.

There's a few things I would like to point out in your post.

>You assumed that video games were wrong to begin with.

>You implied that all of us were addicted to video games.

>You insulted our parents, and us as individuals.

>And you assumed that our video gaming habits caused God to disown us.
Quoting this from the book of Romans, chapter 14.

First I would like to say, that Video games themselves aren't bad. They're as sinful as any other worldly thing you do for entertainment. Like, go to a manmade park and admire what has been built, watching a secular movie, listening to secular music, taking up a hobby such as crafting or gardening... You get the point. All of these things are fun. All are not necessary. All can become sinful. When something is done obsessively, or in other words you live to do that thing rather than living for God it becomes sinful. In order for you to accuse us of sinning by playing video games, you would first have to prove we were addicted to them.

Not all gamers are video game addicts. Yes, many people have fallen to the temptation it offers. But many people still do it because it's cheap, and effective entertainment. People fall into temptations with sex all the time, become addicted to it. Does that mean that if a person becomes addicted to sex, they should stop having sex completely for the rest of their life? Not necessarily. There are few things which we are to avoid entirely. It says in the Bible to do everything in moderation. And, that doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

And, why are you so combative? here we are, minding our own business on the teens forum trying to get a nice conversation going... (Or at least I was.) And someone pops in, posts some rather offensive material making blatant assumptions and pointing fingers totally killing the mood. You insulted our parents, our faith, and our habits. How do you expect us to take you seriously? If anything, your style of preaching will turn us off to your age group, your opinion, or our God entirely. You could be accomplishing the opposite of what you seem to want to do.

This, I quote from the book of Romans chapter 14.
"1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand."

In other words, each person is accountable to God. So long as they're born again, they're brothers and sisters in Christ. To my understanding, we're to lovingly urge one another to continue on the path of righteousness in the same manor the Heavenly Father has us. Not quarrel over petty little details that have caused the destruction of many churches in the past. We're varied people united by Jesus. If one of us disagrees with another for stupid things such as this, then it's likely to turn someone off toward God or create hostilities within the brotherhood.

There's one more thing for me to address, and that is your assumption that our video gaming habits have caused us to lose our Christian status. I think, with all of the above said, I've fairly well proven that enjoying video games is not an offense to God. Living to play video games, or becoming addicted to it is. But just for fun, sure. So long as the video game doesn't itself include any kinds of sin. Like, theft, rape, and murder. (Mind you, that murder is different from war.)

With all of that said, I don't think we need to go any further with this topic. If you don't agree, that's fine. I'm accountable to God, I trust He will correct me if I'm in error. Perhaps you can find peace in that.

FSX is Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Its not really a game, its more of a hobby for flight sim enthusiasts. If you like big airliners or want to know what its like to fly a plane you should check it out.

There's a free demo here: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/

Oh yeah I've seen it for like $15-20 depending on where you're getting it, but I would recommend the Game of The Year edition if you're going to get it. Comes with the game and all four downloadable contents.
