I myself am not a Christian so you don't have to trust me on this one, but I assume masturbation would involve lust which is a sin therefore making the act itself a sin.
But personally I have nothing against it.

He's right. According to what Jesus said, the only place where lust is allowed is in a marriage relationship. So people shouldn't masturbate if they lust. I do think it's possible to masturbate without aiming it at anything, but that would require the individual to be very aroused and this doesn't happen to everyone. I would consider it to be rare even in people with high libidos. And I would consider masturbation while married something you should ask permission to from your partner, because of what 1 Cor 7 says.

Masturbation is normal and healthy. Some people use Onan as an example to say "spilling seed" is a sin but Onan practiced coitis interruptus. Not masturbation. Plus, girls don't "spill seed." Masturbation in men has shown to decrease the risk of prostate cancer by 1/3.

Well to masturbate, you have to be turned on, and considering looking at someone with lust is a sin, I'm sure masturbation is to. It is considered Self abuse, which is a sin.

Masturbation involves lust, no denying that. Also, it is a bout selfishness. Masturbation is all about fulfilling your own selfish desires to please yourself and putting your personal lusts over guarding your heart against lust. Sex is designed to be between two people. Man and woman. Married. Replicating sex without a woman or marriage really sounds acceptable?

Also, in regards to Onan, if you read that in context, those commands are only for him in that particular situation and are not meant for all people.

Yes it is. You're basically having sex with yourself, and as the Bible states, premarital sex is a sin. There's only one person on this Earth meant to pleasure you: your future spouse AFTER you're married to them. It also leads to unhealthy expectations once you're married. You have this expectation of how it should be done, and when your spouse does it differently, it seems wrong. Same argument people use when asking why you should wait until marriage to have sex: "What if the sex is bad?" Well, if it's the only sex you've ever had, then it will be the most amazing sex you've ever had. ;)

Twist. Out.

I don't think it is. We are human, we have urges, and they are perfectly natural. We are --only human--. If lust is involved, then yes, that is a sin. But masturbation in and of itself is not (in my opinion).

If masturbating counts as sex, no one is a virgin.

What if Jesus returned while you were in the middle of masturbating? Would you feel guilty?
