So I was just talking with a friend, we we're talking about different things that all teenagers go through at one point or the other, one that came up was, Dare i say it the "M" word and I got thinking about it and I couldn't stop:/ so I decided to post this thread and see what different Christians thought, kinda along the lines of maybe "is it considered a sin" and stuff like that so opinions would be great

Ok bluebird, rather than start yet another long heated conversation about masturbation, I want you to think about it. I do not mean to sound condescending if I come off that way. But sometimes it's good to figure things out on our own first. The HS speaks to each if us individually. We do not need others to tell us right from wrong, etc though others can be a good source.
First pray, then Try and answer these questions and I don't mean that you have to type out your answers:
1). What does masturbation physically entail?
2). What does it entail mentally? For yourself or others?
3). What's the aftermath?
4). Is it honoring your body? The other if there is another involved in your fantasy? God?

Jordache is correct, you need to be the one to answer that question yourself. No matter what any of us say, it will all still be up to you to deal with your feelings and beliefs. I personally do not feel comfortable talking about something as personal as this issue in a public forum so forgive me if I do not elaborate.

It isn't mentioned in the Bible but ANYTHING that we let control us is idolatry and we become a slave to it. Be aware that people fall very easily into sexual sin and masturbation is a quick and sure way into it. Use this as a learning opportunity...to learn self-control and how to seek 'healthy' activities that will make you into a strong mature Christian.

It will also harm your relationship with your future wife. Guard your heart and your body for this future relationship. And most definitely do not look at porn. Do whatever is necessary to prevent this.

These are all great answers :) I'm not asking so much as something as blunt as "do you or don't you?" I know everybody in inclined to privacy, I don't argue that point, my question was more of..." would you class it as a sin" ? I have asked so many different Christians that my head hurts and

I agree :) one hundred percent. I didn't intend to offend anyone on the website I just simply wanted to know what people from maybe...a different ideal thought no ? I appreciate everyone commenting. I didn't ask this question because I am struggling but because I wanted to see what other people thought, If I have offended any one I'm very sorry :)

OK, I am just gonna come right out and say it. YES, it's a sin. I honestly don't know how anybody could possibly take the other side of that argument. As someone who has "been there done that" I can tell you for sure, it will destroy you. It will DESTROY you. If you want to know more about what God has brought me out of, let me know. Otherwise I agree with Jordache. This has already been debated here.

well..I would agree with you on more or less every front, both Jordache's and Mystic Rain's, yes but like I said, maybe it was a silly question to ask but i was asking because I have encountered Christians who believed otherwise, and because I'm not a very experienced Christian, i wanted to see what maybe older and more experienced Christians thought, I read a book about stuff like that and it that said it depended on the context as well, so i wasn't sure of myself.

Yeah, anytime that feeling comes on, I think about God and it stops.

Major kill since,
Those two things don't exactly go hand-in-hand. :/

This topic has been discussed a million times in the forums. I don't get some of people's responses I really don't.

When you reach puberty you get another physical desire that is similar to desires such as wanting to eat, wanting to go to the bathroom, and wanting to sleep. Its the sexual desire. Its not a bad thing. Its from God. If we didn't have this desire, males and females would never reproduce and the human race would die out. This is so simple and obvious its common sense.

Now just like with your other desires there has to be self control. If you eat too much you will get sick. If you sleep too much you will get sick. There needs to be a balance.

If you abuse your sexual desires you will end up with many problems like porn addiction. And that is bad. Understand that I am NOT saying that if you masturbate you will be sent to the fiery pits of hell.

I AM saying that if it gets out of hand and begins to control your life and it involves wasting hours and hours on pornography, then you are really in trouble.

I would add that when I was 13 years old, and the testosterone kicked in, God was not on my mind at that particular moment in time.

Hey Bluebird

I think it's clearly sin... 3 reasons, 1st one just sets it in stone pretty much.

1. Lust is sin... in order to masturbate... you gotta lust.. have sexual thoughts. Matthew 5:27-28
" You have heard that it was said to those of old, `You shall not commit adultery.' 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

I don't think we even need to go further, case closed pretty much.

2. Bible talks about unspeakable sins... and considering how not only Christians but even the non-believers are embarrassed about this. It's pretty clear by our own convictions. This is is one of those sins.

3. As far as I can tell... God seems to want to keep sex within marriage... between a man and woman only. Not with animals... not before marriage with another person... so going off the trend I'd wager God wouldn't want us having sex with ourselves.

Thank you Zork, this is really good stuff, it was more as a point of concern when I was out talking with people when the asked me about different stuff, but thanks this really helps :)

God bless

Yep it is a sin. So... don't touch yourself or look at porn. Otherwise you're going to hell and burn for all eternity.
