How do i make my heart pure so the Lord can use me? Innocence is something rare these days because, no matter how hard you try to keep away from it, sin is always right in your face. And, even if the body is innocent, sometimes the heart isn't. Even though I do my devotions, its still hard to ignore the world. I want to please the Lord, but sometimes its so hard.

Surrender yourself fully and completely to the will of God. The problem you're having is you're trying on your own as a believer. Lean in God, lean on Him with your full trust that He will clean you daily. As you read your devotions, and read your bible, ask God how he wants you to respond in your life through the Word of God, and ask to help give you the heart of David, God said David was the apple of His eye, because he surrendered his pride with a contrite heart and gave his burdens and problems to God. :)

you can't.

only God can change a heart -- in the psalms, David doesn't say "i will make my heart pure," instead he says "Create in me a pure heart" ( Psalm 51:10 )
and in Ezekiel 36:26 -- the Lord says:
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
it's not Israel that God demands change their heart, but he promises that he will change them.

let the spirit live in your heart, and it will teach you the things of God. a heart that wants to please God is a pure heart -- already he is working in you! have faith, and patience, and understand that "the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9) -- don't be discouraged, what you describe is the same experience we all have, a spirit that is willing and a flesh that is weak.

Pleasing Him isn't the hard part.
For you to even care about it is proof that He is pleased.
Believing that you please Him is the hard part.
It's what receiving "grace" means.

Hey Artistgirl :)

Remaining pure, and even choosing to follow God, is something we have to re-commit to everyday. It can be hard sometimes! But reading the Bible and praying (and in turn, relying and trusting in Him) is an awesome way to do this. If we are so consumed with the Lord, we can hear Him more clearly and know where to go.

Something that I learned while doing a Purity Series with my church was when you're in the world (or even on your computer, for that matter) if you see something that you know isn't right, bounce your eyes! In other words, don't continue to stare at whatever it is, but stop looking. Also if you're in a compromising situation, flee! Sometimes it helps just to physically remove yourself from whatever it is that's going down. I've found that helps when I'm with a group of people and they begin gossiping.

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word." Psalm 119:9

Guard your heart above all else :)
