Hey, i was reading another thread and it got me thinking(kinda a dangerous thing) what is the issue with sleevless clothes or woman wearing pants??

i myself wear a lot of different stuff depending on the weather and my mood :p but what is wrong with things above the knees? singlets?

just to be clear im not saying that we should all wear daisy duke shorts and low cut shirts im just saying why is it considered to be such a terrible sin.

Lots of love :) <3

No one thinks it's exactly a sin. But as sisters to our brothers in Christ, it is helpful if we wear clothes that aren't too revealing. Not only is too much skin an issue to them but clothes that cling to a woman's body do not help their minds for the cause of being pure. :) What I wear to bed is my business, but when I'm in public, I prefer to wear things that don't reveal too much about my body. I never wear shorts in public that go higher than halfway above the back of my knee. I don't wear two piece swim suits. I don't wear clothes that reveal my bra straps. I also don't wear clothes that are too tight. As a sister to our brothers in Christ, I like to help them as best I can through that manner because all men are visual. I hope this helps :)

I have shorts shorter then that, but i dont really wear clingly clothes. My mum told me a rule that if your going to wear something short you wear someting loose on top, and similarly if you are going to wear a low or tight shirt you wear loose bottoms. I have bikinis that i really like and wear but its at the beach and im kinda like i dont have htat great of a body no ones looking at me :p haha but yes i have things that show bra straps, it drives me crazy :p

They may be more comfortable, but sometimes we have to do that which is uncomfortable for the sake of obedience to God.

As much as it would be more comfortable for me to go without shirt and pants in the summer, to do so would be immodesty and because I care about those around me I don't do it.

I'm no hot papa myself, but that doesn't mean there aren't people who wouldn't mind a peak.

What matters is not what your brother things, but what scripture tells us and what is neccessary to meet the standards of scripture.

Where does the bible mention bikinis????
id a woman dared wear pants back in those times she would have been considered to be sinning, it not a specific item more of a culteral thing i thinkg

It doesn't, nor does it mention Dollars. I guess because it doesn't mention dollars, greed is good, right?

Honestly, I don't really care what the culture said then. Culture will always be flawed. I'm interested in what Scripture says. What does the bible say? That must be the question we answer.

I think you are missing my point :p
im saying that different cultures (australian culture is different from american) must have different views in what is considered to be immodest. because the bible mentions not causing men to stumble and certain cultures believe that seeing hair is to much of a turn on to be shown. In australia especcially where i am its not considered to be a biggie.

Just because it is a beach doesn't make a bikini more modest. Believe it or not God sees people on the beach too. Just because others do it doesn't mean you should as well. Bikinis are revealing. You are basically wearing a bra and panties. You wouldnt wear just your underwear to the beach would you? As a matter of fact a bra and panties seems to cover more skin these days than some bikinis I see.

For me personally, I would never wear sleeveless shirts or show my knees. My body is for me, God, and my future spouse. I don't see anything wrong with wearing pants, as long as they're not tight. I have said this many times before, but I believe that someone should be attracted to a woman's countenance, not her body. I agree that bikinis are EXTREMELY immodest. I wear modesty swimwear, because a lot of swimwear these days exposes parts that shouldn't be exposed. God sees people everywhere, and it goes against His word to dress immodestly.

With that said, I don't look down on anyone that doesn't share my belief. God knows that we are all in different places with our faith. Some of us are more spiritually mature than others. And that's okay. That's what growing in God is all about. This is a very personal decision, as are many things in our Christian lives. My aunts are much more liberal. They believe that as long as your booty and breasts aren't showing, you're okay. I disagree, but that's okay. We're all in different places spiritually. :)

It doesn't matter. Culture will always be wrong. Stick with God.

I don't know any cultures that way. Do you have any examples?

Neither is pornography, adultery, usury, lieing, theft, fornication, drugs, lust, drunkeness, and pretty much everything else.

Things you may be:
1. Troll

2. Really REALLY ignorant

3. Extremely bored and a troll

4. Ignorant, and never even opened a bible.

This is multiple choice. Choose wisely.
