I think it was said in the bible for people not to get tattoos, I agree because that is just messing your body. There was this person who got a tattoo with their husbands name on it, and then they got divorce i think she still had it on. yeah my suggestion would be a piercing might be good but a tattoo...i myself would not get one.

I've got two tattoos on my shoulder (no one knows about them lol) and I want to have full sleeves someday. My body is my shrine, and I believe we should decorate it with whatever we deem beautiful. If our body is a work of art, I want more art painted on it! There is nothing new about this practice either, of course. It has been done (and still is being done) by tribes around the world, LONG before Christianity.

There are several texts in the Bible that forbid the cutting or marking of our bodies. You can look these up and study them for yourself: Leviticus 19:28; Leviticus 21:5; and Deuteronomy 14:1. I believe these would apply to tattoos and body piercing. The pagans who did not believe they were created by God consequently had no respect for the human body. Satan wishes to erase God's image in man in every way that he can. Virtually every pagan religion of the world has some form of self-mutilation. The prophets of Baal speared themselves with lances on Mt. Carmel in order to please their god. The demoniac deliberately gouged and lacerated his flesh with stones.

As Christians we have an entirely different perspective. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20).

I find it funny how people who say they're christians act this way calling eachother names and whatnot. Also its funny how people can pick one verse out of the Bible and live off of it. You need to read the whole chapteror better yet the book. God doesn't care about what you put on your body all that matters is your relationship with God. And no they're not sinning because they have tattoos. Some of the best role models, nicest people i know have tattoos.
That's right, all that matters is your relationship with God.

God does care what we put on our body, in fact He cares more for us then we ever will ourselves......Im sure you didn't mean in the extremes God doesn't care, like getting 666 on your forehead or something :S ......anyway, Im personally unsure about tattoos and piercings, but as I plan to be a missionary, Im not going to get a piercing or tattoo that could be culturally unacceptable wherever I go.

Use wisdom when deciding, why are you getting it, is it to be more like the world? Would what your planning on getting make people look at you and question your faith in any way. You may say it doesn't matter what others think, BUT were ambassadors of Christ, and examples of the living God. Don't forget, these are people living on the brink of eternity in hell, so anything that could raise doubt in their mind is eternally important! Despite what the world says, it's not all about 'me', and exclusively what I want anymore, we were bought at a price!

Having said all that, I don't think tattoos or piercings are wrong as such, just use discernment in your decisions. Seek God in prayer and His Word, you won't regret it :)

I just have a single piercing on each ear and I don't really want more than that. Personally, I don't see that as being wrong.

My nose is pierced and my ears are stretched and I hope it's not wrong. I know a lot of people don't like it, and I do want tattoos, but I want bible verses tattooed on me, I don't know if that makes it any better! Haha. :)

Please don't hate me.n :3

If we shouldnt get tattoos because it is God's temple then you should think about that statement next time before you shove double bacon cheeseburgers down your throats. Eating bad food and living an unhealthy lifestyle is just as bad, if not worse than a tattoo. My belief is let God decide for you not someone that takes verses and twists them to mean what ever they want. P.S. Old testament references are invalid. Study the pagans and the practices then before any of you claim to know what those verses mean :) God Bless!!

no they are not a sin..
this is what turns people against God!
They see ignorance in the church.. they want the truth, not opinions!

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. -Leviticus 19:28 it says cuttings in your flesh for the DEAD, for one... the only reason God said this in the first place, is at the time, pagans were carving their God's on their bodies, and their living conditions weren't the greatest, (which is also why the verse before it was written)

the verse before it says:
Do not cut the hair on the sides of your head or trim your beard. -Leviticus 19:27
(woman in that time era didn't shave their legs either.js)

see, this is also where judging comes in affect, to each his own, it is not your place to decide who is sinning or not.UNLESS you are reading a verse, and it is black and white, and you have no sin in YOUR life. but we sin daily.so looking at it from your point of view, you too are a 'dirty sinner' lol o:
And if were gonna beat down Christian tattoo artist, then we also need to beat down Christian hair stylist, etc.
Just shedding some light :) I am an ordained Pastor.. and i hoped I helped! ^^

I agee 100%. This is a topic you have to settle directly with God yourself. We are to seek a continual, growing, loving, and personal relationship with our Father. This is unique for every individual, sure you can get help from the Bible and other Christians, but the final decision of if it glorifies God or not will be decided by you and the Holy Spirit (God).

I understand most people do not respect tattoos and piercings. But Mr. conservative in his suit will have a hard time trying to get the biker, street kid, etc... to listen to him talk about anything, especially Jesus. It takes someone who has walked in these types of shoes before andthen found the great and wonderful joy of living for Jesus. Most of the time we have tattoos or peircings.

I have 3 tattoos from my wild and crazy days when I lived for the world. I do not think I would get another one, but you would have to kill me in order to get me to remove them. They are part of my Testimony, they are scars of the old me. Without them, I would not be who I am today ... A Child of GOD!!!

It took a few years, but I can now stand on my past. This is one of the ways I try to glorify God. I am no longer ashamed of this time period in my life. I have been forgiven.
