...I enjoy piercings. I like the part where they poke a hole in my skin. It isn't about adornment. We are to adorn ourselves with our works. To me, a piercing is a mode of self expression. It's one of the few things I enjoy that are not flat out condemned by scripture. .. Than certainly, as long as it's not done with an attitude of rebellion or to excess, I can enjoy a piercing. ..
A lot of people feel exactly as you do, anyway.

If not flaunted, the more objective aspect of the basically subjective, quiet ecstasy of getting ringed holes, is: make sure you use a regulated, clean parlor!

Cultures vary, some people are offended by piercings and tatoos. Personally do not, so whatever trips yer trigger I suppose. However certain ones are flat out condmned in scripture. Those piercings/tattoos when they are made in memory of the dead, that goes for shaving ones hair too. You want to get a rose on your backside thats fine. Just don't start getting what are called memory tats.

I personally have nothing against them however a friend of mine said something to me about piercings one and it stuck with me and also made me laugh so I share it with you. They said "If God wanted us to have pieces of metal going through our body he would put them there himself." ;)

Some of them are 'over the top'.

Interestingly in Ezekiel 16.12, the Lord gave Zion a nose ring.

This is a really interesting topic, because the church I went to while I was in elementary school there were lots of people who had piercing, tattoo's, died hair, and one lady had dreadlocks. None of them were in inappropriate places. Mostly in the ear and/or nose. A lot of the tattoo's were simple things and some were of scripture, a cross, .....
I think having an piercing that shows you love God would be awesome. Same as getting a tattoo showing off Jesus. Just remember that a tattoo is forever and they fade and don't look good several years latter. Also if you get one make sure the place is clean.

...

Well, a lot of Christians think similarly to you about this issue.

Blessings.

I have a nose piercing and both my ears are pierced once. The church I go to doesn't wear jewelry in general. I've also been to other churches that does....I love God and I try my best to do what's right in his eyes but its hard sometimes because I keep hearing all these different things and I'm not sure which to follow..
Ezekiel 16:11-12 I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.

I think God's the preeminent authority on what's wrong and right, so...

I myself would be described as theologically conservative.

But for some ppl being 'conservative' means being arbitrarily reactionary about matters such as piercings, etc. Whereas if we actually look at verses such as Ezekiel 16.12, it's hard to maintain that stance I reckon, in terms of what should be normative supposedly.
