I believe it is because with mastrubation usually is porn or some sort of lusting and the Bible says if you even look at a women with lust you have already committed adultery in your heart and adultery is a sin. And how you can enjoy it is to save it for your future wife. Hope that answers your question. God bless!

I've read a wonderful book that I think would help you. It's called "When God Writes Your Love Story," By Eric & Leslie Ludy. It talks a lot about purity and why it's so important. They also talk about how to enjoy your life as a single and what you should be doing to prepare yourself for you future spouse. This book is great for both guys and gals since it's written from both their perspectives. Please look into this book. It's helped me so much, and I'm sure it can help you too.

^ They're awesome. My friend did a course/camp at Ellerslie and I heard about this book but I haven't read it.

OP - there are some excellent books out there for teenagers and men. The book 'Clean' from Doug Weiss is outstanding. I recommend reading through a book about sexual purity/integrity, praying about this, talking to other Christian teens/young men trying to live their lives unto the Lord. But keep seeking as you are now...

I know I will get hammered for this, but there is something innately wrong with us that we "want" to be sexual on our own. It is surely a bad want. The world will justify it and science will justify. But, this is not God's design. It will not produce lovers of others, but lovers of self. We should see the corollary between our hyper-sexed world that is now obsessed with selfies. Bunch a little Lucifers runn'n round. I do not not include myself in that.

I understand your problem because I have the same. But I decided that masturbation is really "mass disturbance" to leading a holy life.

First, I have decided that masturbation is part of sexual immorality.

Therefore based on 1 Corinthians 6:18 (ESV)"18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body."

And I have also decided that the meaning of sin is doing something which do not reflect the glory of God, no matter doing, saying or even thinking.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

May God bless you and lead you in your life.

When I was younger, I was told that it was all right by Christian adults. However, I have come to the truth that it is sinful, for the reasons listed above by others, and also because it can become an addiction, bondage and idol in one's life.

Well...first...does it control you? Ex-porn watcher, My life was controlled...I HAD to do it! It controlled me, God does not want anyone controlling us except him...and you can not masturbate without some sort of lust which is a sin and that leads to worse and worse... How can you enjoy your sexual life? Read the word.

Sorry, You'll be able to enjoy your sexual life when you are married! Sex in marriage is wonderful to God because that was how he created it. God gave us this urge, so surely he can give us control of it, but it takes a lot of beating of our flesh and practical steps to walk away from it.

Hope this helps...

McKinley Health Center also states the following:

SEXUAL ORIENTATION

  • Sexual orientation is a basic part of each person's identity, and LGBT people are just as loving, ethical, productive, smart, beautiful, and human as heterosexual people. Same-sex love is just as likely to lead to fulfilling, happy, committed relationships as "straight" love.
  • Looking back, some gay adults will say they knew very early that they were gay, as early as third or fourth grade. Others were not sure until they were in college or even later. There is no formula for coming out and there is no rush. If you have questions about yourself, start paying attention to the signals that you're getting from your brain and your body; eventually you'll have a very clear picture of what types of relationships you would like to form.
  • Sexual orientation is not a matter of choice.
  • It is not a disease.
  • It can not be “cured” through therapy or medical treatment.
  • No amount of pretending will make you different than you are.
  • Both LGBT and heterosexual orientations are perfectly healthy.

Obviously sexual orientation is a matter of choice and sexual addictions including homosexuality can be "cured" by ceasing to engage in it with God's help and developing a new heterosexual behavior. I know plenty of ex-homosexuals that are happily married with children and have done just that.

Furthermore, asserting homosexual relationships are "just as likely to lead to fulfilling, happy, committed relationships as "straight" love" is exactly the opposite of what statistics reveal making their assertion a blatant false assertion.

Stating that homosexual relationships are just like heterosexual relationships and "perfectly healthy" is a another false assertion.

No offence friend, but you're getting your data from an organization that makes many statistically verifiable and theological provable false assertions with regards to sex.

They completely fail to present the negative aspects of masturbation but then they fail in that regard with respect to most everything up to and including anal sex.

I would NEVER want anyone I care about taking the advice of the McKinley Health Center simply because everything is moral in their view no matter how immoral it actually is and they largely both deny and fail to present the negative consequences of engaging in immoral behaviors.

That said, it is unreasonable in my humble opinion to expect most young celibate males not to engage in masturbation but they should try to minimize impurity as best they can, remember that less is more when it comes to the behavior, and appropriate God's grace and mercy in asking for forgiveness from time to time with respect to it.

It's something many celibate people struggle with. A thorn in the flesh metaphorically speaking. Fortunately, God sees how we are keeping ourselves from sex with others until heterosexual monogamous marriage and purposing to minimize impurity in our lives and seek his holiness even though we may fall short in this area. God sees this thorn in the flesh, understands it for what it is, and loves us anyways.

Lets see what science and medicine can tell us about the subject shall we ...

There are actually numerous scientific studies that show looking at porn and frequent masturbation are detrimental to a persons mental health, they can have the same damages as frequent drug use. Is it a sin? No I don't believe it is, BUT what usually comes along with it is a sin. It is normal and healthy for a male to be released every so often. Even if masturbating is not involved, it can and will happen involuntary. That's not wrong, or sinful, it's normal.

But again, done frequently, it is not healthy at all, and it's easy to become addicted to. You can read numerous books, and they will all point you to a good direction, but the choice to be done needs to be your own. In that, no book can help you.

I agree with the addiction part..but on the "will happen involuntary" aren't guys visually minded? Wouldn't you lust in your head instead of using your eyes?

Sinful or not, it could hurt your emotional and physical bonds to the woman God has planned for you so, if you want to spoil the RELATIONSHIP with your future wive, I don´t recommend you to sin, neither to loose your natural drive or spiritual virginity.

I'm actually wondering where it says in the bible that masturbation is a sin..... someone mentioned 1 Corinthians 6:18 but it refers to sexual immorality as being a sin. Where does it say masturbation is an act of sexual immorality. This is the first Ive heard of this.

Actually Zoey I totally agree with your view of porn. Mostly though I hate it because I associate it with degrading women, and, in a lot of cases, involving women who are in terrible situations. Ty for bring that point up

"Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established."

The battle is the Lord's and He already won it on the Cross. Lust isn't a sin. But lust can lead us away from looking to Jesus. The only way I know out of every temptation is saying NO to myself and running to the Lord.

I could not overcome alcoholism even as a Christian. I was so ashamed! I finally came to the conclusion I had no power over it. I cried out to Jesus in brokenness and admitted nothing I did was keeping me from drinking. I just gave up. I followed along with Jesus like a crippled, messed-up failure of a Christian. But I followed Him.

One day as I was walking out of the grocery store (which sold alcohol) I stopped in my tracks right outside the doors. I all of a sudden realized that I hadn't even glanced at the aisles of booze. I couldn't believe it! It was amazing!!! I was like, "Oh my God, You have kept me from sin!!!!" It was the first time I didn't even have to battle the temptation!!!! It was not even a fight, I just wasn't thinking about it!!! It was a miracle of the Lord's grace. For me!!! He loved me and was faithful to deliver me!!!

All I can tell you is talk to Jesus. Tell Him everything in your heart. Trust Him to make a way of escape and He will do it. Just for you. Because He loves you and is faithful. He will renew your mind and give you right thoughts.

And don't condemn yourself. This is your personal walk with Jesus and He will make it a glorious walk. He will make you a living testimony to others.

Thank you for coming here and sharing your heart, young brother. I thank the Lord for bringing you to this point in the road and teaching you to seek Him out and learn of Him. I pray you continue to listen to Him and find the joy of His grace and liberty. :D Blessings to you!
