When i pray and ask for things does god answer them even though i havent really been the best Christian? Like sometimes i feel like having a conversation with God but i feel kind of ashamed because of the way ive been behaving, i feel not like i am not worthy but just ashamed to talk to pray to him

You are more than worthy, you are his son. God will answer your prayers. Now, it might not be right away, I've learned that first hand, but he will answer you. Just keep praying and believing. Good things come to those who wait!

A long time ago I had a dear friend wrong me a great deal to the point that I cried so much that my glasses were coated with mineral stains. At that time this friend asked God for direction in deciding what to do with regard to me and their own life, to show them a sign, etc. I didn't know this at that time. But I called them some time later and told them how I felt. And my view of the world was so irreconcilably different from theirs they felt that God had answered their prayer. Sorry if this sounds intentionally vague. It's meant to be.

But anyway I sort of felt the same way, given the circumstances at that time. Although I tended to view it as God protecting me from them or protecting us both from each other rather than as one-sided as they may have taken it. So that doesn't say anything about how great of a person they are or that God was necessarily looking out for them. If anything it shows that God answers prayers when it serves his purposes. And if God really did lend his ear to them, then in one respect I'm grateful and in one respect I'm a little peeved. It's a difficult thing to accept that God listens to those who you aren't on the greatest of terms with. But life is much greater than private indignation. I think God looks at the whole picture.

If answering a prayer will serve God's purpose, then I believe he will. But your best bet to get him to answer prayer in your favor would be to abide in his will. And it's never too late to start.

God loves you more than you can possibly imagine. He forgives and understands that we're not perfect. As long as you're trying He can see that your faith is strong. Let Him into how you feel, tell Him while you're praying. It helps to say it out loud to God. He knows how you feel anyway, He can read every thought in your head, so let Him know that you are thinking about it and working to become more like Christ. If it is part of His amazing plan, the prayer will be answered and sometimes things just aren't meant to be and God let's nature take it's course as He has something even better for us and that's okay. What's important is that you're trusting in him to guide and lead you to the next chapter and throughout your life. If its meant to be it'll happen. God bless you
