I used to think all the bad things in my life God did for a reason (I believed God did everything for a reason for our own benefit even if i didn't know the reason at the time it happened I just trusted God because I knew there was a reason) but then my aunt who is Catholic I think said that God doesn't cause bad things to happen. Which one is true? because I always believed in blessings and blessings in disguise.

God doesn't make bad things happen. But He does let them happen at times to test us and strengthen us.
In the book of Job a lot of bad things happen to him. But not by Gods hands. God did however let it happen for a reason.
And just like Job bad things happen to us for a reason. God him self doesn't do it to us but he uses those bad things to help us.

Yes so true, read the book of Job Danielle1234, you will see what bad events happened in his life. But still Job fould faith was for God. Even the enemy asked if he could tempt Job, and try to defuse and derail Jobs faith for God, But one thing Job was best at. was his continuous strong faith he had in God, yes he was angry at God, he probably cursed at God for allowing certain things to happen. But his faith blessed Job, because he was rewarded for his strong faith he had for God.

As Christians, it will never be an easy road, your path will be straight, But you will see many turnings, side tracks, and even round abouts, diversions, and turn offs. But you trust in God with your heart, and have faith in him. You will be blessed hugely Just like Job.

Yeah, I've been struggling with this. I just lost my mom a few days ago to cancer. While I know He didn't give her cancer, I know He could have healed her in an instant. Why He didn't I'll never know. I don't know how things are going to play out at the moment. I just know God is, and Mom stood on Him and His word till her last breath.

He does do bad things but good things always come out of it like the great flood. We were reborn but a lot of people had to die sadly.

Prestley:

The Lord sometimes tests our patience; and He certainly tested Job's, but He also gives us strength to endure. Blessings.

I can't say I agree. In James it says that God does not tempt us. Why would He test us? They're essentially the same thing.
