New International Version

Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.

well carpenter, a very general definition. The actual word is Tekton, origianaly wrote in the bible as teÑktwn, meaning

"one who works with there hands"
read the red , The blue is the important stuff i want to point out.

the section i want you to read..

A Prophet without honor

And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. 2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter , the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

now as you can see i pointed out, carpenter, and hands, because the definition is "one who works with his HANDS"

and in luke it talks about how he would take apart in his fathers business.. well that is where it is said that he began his ministry, his father being GOD!

so fourth it is not proven that he is infact a carpenter!

John 1:3 - Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

I imagine that Jesus loves building things whether it be spiritual or physical. I can picture him being like "Alright, I'm going to go down to Earth, and I'm going to save all these people. But in my free time, I'm going to build things, and it's going to be AWESOME!"

As you said, Jesus was "one who works with his hands". I've heard that he could have been a carpenter, metal worker, sculpture or any sort of profession that builds.

yes i know he plays the role of a carpenter taking after his father in creating the earth with his bare hands, but the point i was making here is that he was not exactly a carpenter, look in mark chapter 6 and read that first thing and go on and you will see what i mean if you have the new living bible it will say a "carpenter"

Yes it might be carpeter not carpenter, in which case Jesus would have worked on his knees.
